2012 GS450H Premier - Wingmirror Dip malfunction

Recommended Posts

Hi all, recently got myself a GS450H Premier - back to Lexus after a few years and loving the car.

I had a small issue with the mirrors, which when I viewed the car either side wouldn't adjust either up / down or left right - the dealer (small dealer in Loughborough who are being very good about the issue) fixed the issue by replacing the mirror motors. What I didn't check was the reverse dip function, which is my issue now.

I now have an issue whereby when in the correct setting / reverse the NearSide mirror will adjust up and left to its maximum travel and click until I hit the adjustment button to stop it. The Driver Side goes down and right and not to a useable position, I cannot seem to sort the issue by adjusting memory and I am not aware of a "reset".. By this I mean I have tried to set the memory for the dipped (if I have understood / done it correctly).

It seems as if the reverse function is almost confused about what it wants to do and is trying to reach the a position - but cant. For now I've switched the function off, but in an otherwise pristine car its bothering me!

Any thoughts and does anyone recommend an independent Lexus specialist in Suffolk?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the motors are sided and have been fitted incorrectly or maybe the wiring has been plugged wrong way round.

I would disconect the 12V Battery negative terminal - leave for 20 mins and then retry.

If it does not resolve itself contact the dealer.

Thank you Mark,

I've tried explaining the issue to Lexus and they wanted £150 to even look at the car... My local independent suggested replacing the wingmirrors or modules. So I am hoping its more simple as you suggest!

I will keep looking for somewhere to take a look at the issue.

If you have purchased the car within the last 6 months then the dealer should be sorting this without any cost to you.

The dealer are happy to pay reasonable costs to get it sorted, however they are about 3 hour drive from me and we mutually agreed that I'd source a local garage to look at it for me - get it fixed and recoup my costs.

If I have no luck then I'll be taking my partner for a weekend in Loughborough!

Harry try to take to an auto electrician rather than a garage - an electrician will be able to easily diagnose this
