Meguiar's Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer

https://www.amazon.co.uk/MEGUIARS-G15812-Ultimate-Plastic-Restorer/dp/B0055PD1H4?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&smid=A2KVF7QXNCLV8H&th=1

Wipe it on and let it cure/dry. Don't over-buff. Black looks great until the bird poo/mud/dust hits it!

The black trim is the thing I dislike most about my car (and my wife's).

After saying on here how good the Meguiars Plastic Restorer is I'm afraid to say that its met it's match today.

Leaving the shooting club my friend pointed out a fresh scratch on the wheel arch trim. No idea where it occurred and no idea how on earth a scratch that looks like its been done with a Stanley Knife could 'accidentally' happen - but it has. It's deep enough to catch a finger nail and looks white against the black.

Anyone have any ideas? I've seen suggestions along the lines of ultra fine grit paper etc. but I'm afraid of making it worse.

Even finer would be a touch of toothpaste (not gel) on the tip of a cotton bud.  It looks like it’s mainly a scuff on the clear coat which the fine abrasive particles in the toothpaste may remove.

The final touch would be to reapply the clear coat and flatten that down again.  Apart from that, there are proprietary products that claim to be scratch removers that probably fill the shelves at Halfords, but I’ve never used them!

By far the best I've used and seems to last the longest:

Gtechniq C4

I have just tried this for the first time, so no review as yet 😀

Easy to apply 😀

It is quite expensive too.

If it really bothers you I am sure a detailer could sort it quite easily.

Excellent! I find prep is quite key especially with Gtechniq products so fingers crossed your results will be as good as I found it.
