I am thinking that the car was shipped with LSS+ v2.5 , and the dealer did not properly upgrade to v3. It is the only explanation I can think of.

The 'upgrade' is different components fitted at the factory. I wouldn't think it possible to be fitted with the old parts once the assembly line was updated to start producing the new model.

Thanks all!

Indeed they call the entry levels different in different markets. This year in Greece, the Dynamic is the base, where as last year (with the 250h) there was a model below it.

But I checked the specifications quite thoroughly, with the dealership.  It is definitely deficient.  Lexus is not as popular in Greece as in other EU countries and North America, for sure. They are picking up more interest now especially with the LBX that brings peeps into the showroom and then they are getting interested in the other models. I clearly competes in quality well with Audi, BMW, and Mercedes in similar sized SUVs and Cross over cars, and at a better value in my opinion.

right. This is clear. I know that the model is supposed to have LSS+ v3, but not all features are functioning. If it is a factory problem, I would be very surprised. Hoping the hardware is all there and there is a software issue. Fingers crossed.

Hopefully your dealer will resolve this for you.

In terms of new functionality, the following are the new feature that v3 provides:

  • Proactive Driver Assist - detects objects and will brake/steer if there is a risk of collision.
  • Rear indicator flashing - turns on the rear hazard lights if an approaching vehicle is at risk of rear ending your vehicle.
  • Safe Exit Assist - visual warning/alarm if you open a door into the path of traffic/cyclist.
  • Driver Monitor - visual warning/alarm if the driver loses concentration.

This is in addition to the features that the previous version provided, including Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Centre Assist, Lane Trace Assist, Road Sign Assist, Emergency Driving Stop & Automatic
High Beam/Adaptive High-beam System.

Of those 4 features, only Proactive Driver Assist is common across all grades. In the UK you need the Premium grade to get Driver Monitor, and you need Premium Plus for the last two features (probably because you also need Blind Stop Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert for it to work).

This matches my info. There is also an intersection Turn Assist (ITA) that is a new v3 feature.  There are 5 or 6 features that I should have that are not functioning or not obvious.

This is the list of standard features (not premium or Premium plus) that I have off the site:

  • EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHTS
  • INTERSECTION TURN ASSIST (ITA)
  • HILL START ASSIST (HAC)
  • EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE (ESA)
  • PARKING ASSIST SYSTEM (PKSB) - 8 PERIMETER SENSORS
  • TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM (TRC)
  • STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM (VSC)
  • LANE KEEPING CONTROL SYSTEM (LTA)
  • ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM (EPS)
  • EMERGENCY DRIVING STOP SYSTEM (EDSS)
  • ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS)
  • TRAFFIC SIGN RECOGNITION (TSR)
  • ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (DRCC), FULL SPEED
  • COMPREHENSIVE ACTIVE SAFETY SYSTEM LEXUS SAFETY SYSTEM+
  • STIFFNESS REINFORCEMENT BAR, FRONT
  • AUDIBLE VEHICLE WARNING FOR PEDESTRIANS (AVAS)
  • DRIVE MODE SELECTION - ECO / NORMAL / SPORT
  • TIRE PRESSURE WARNING (TPWS) WITH AUTOMATIC DETECTION
  • AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM (AHB)
  • COLLISION AVOIDANCE (PCS)
  • PEDESTRIAN DETECTION, FRONT
  • PROACTIVE DRIVING ASSIST (PDA)

This was added to the 250h as part of the facelift upgrade for MY23, not part of this new 300h update.

Question to Don. You mentioned that disabling the speed warming requires only two clicks. Can you please share the sequence?

Sure Matt.  I’ve on CarPlay, it might be slightly different for AA.  On mine you can have two rows of controls although it’s exactly the same directly from the Lexus home screen.

Press the car settings symbol;

Press the Driving Assist symbol;

I guess it’s a third press but this is where you decide what to disable.  I’m touring Scotland soon and I’ll leave everything enabled but knocking about locally, I disable the traffic sign recognition and lane departure but I rather like the proactive drive assist.   It’s really quite clever.  Excuse the crinkly 66 year old paw.

Hello Don,

A stupid question... In this photo is the road sign assist active or disabled. I assume that when the icon is "greyed out" it is disabled. So in this shot, it looks like you have everything disabled other than the road sign assist.

Do I have that right?

Cheers.

In that photo, it’s disabled.  All the blue ones are enabled.  Strange but true, like you I would have thought it the other way round.

OMG..... I think I have everything disabled! Ok... I will check this out.

Thank you Don.

Ok...I looked again. Oddly in my UX (300h) when the icons are "greyed" they are disabled. I could confirm because the collision alert system told me it was disabled on the driver display.

So I still observe the LSS+ system not functioning as I believe it should. I need to bring this up at the Lexus/Toyota shop. The salesman is just ignoring me about this.

You mean blue?  The blue ones in the photo above are all enabled and for demonstration purposes, the single black one is disabled.  It might show otherwise if something else is disabling it.

for some reason our cars have an opposite iconography coloration. The "blue" faded icons in my UX are "disabled". All very frustrating. I tried to ask the Lexus service if they can just check the software and that I have the correct version, and if so, then check that the hardware is function ok. They were very busy and said "call and make a service appointment. Maybe we can get to you in September." 😞

It looks to me like Don has his screen in dark mode.  Normal daylight mode has a white background, well at least that is how it is in my NX, so maybe that is where the confusion is?

Just took a couple of photos of mine, I disabled the Proactive assist in the second one just to show what it look like deselected.

Well the 300h has arrived and I must say it has potential.   It is already eclipsing the 250h for fuel consumption and I can tell it’s going to go well.   If found a display I like and I’ve always liked the gear shifter.  There’s a an option of a second row of controls from the CarPlay screen so you can get into the Lexus menu very quick.

when you say “There’s a an option of a second row of controls from the CarPlay screen so you can get into the Lexus menu very quick,” does that mean you can turn off/disable the second row of controls (I assume you mean the column on the far right?), too?

My preference is for CarPlay to take up the entire screen… if I need to go to the Lexus menus, I can always select the Lexus icon from the CarPlay Home Screen.

Yes you can, there’s a selectable expand button on the CarPlay page.
