Is300h hybrid warranty

Recommended Posts

I've a 2015 IS300H and today noticed on my OBD reader I've got a pending POA80 code indicating a possible issue with the hybrid Battery. I noticed the mpg readings were acting very strange on my last journey, so this must have been the reason.

I just had it serviced at Lexus last month, and it passed the hybrid test after initially failing ( I had to bring it back after driving 500 miles). The previous owner opted to service it independently for a couple of years, and didn't get the hybrid Battery check during this time, so I was wondering if anyone knew if this mattered with regards to the hybrid warranty? Or am I covered from last months pass certificate?  Thank you

If it was serviced at Lexus & passed the Hybrid check you should have a 12 month warranty irrespective if its been maintained within the main dealer network or not historically. Under the Lexus Relax scheme you should be covered, best to enquire with your dealer.

Have you had the cooling fan & filter serviced (cleaned) ? if not try that first before ruling out a dead cell when it's blocked up with dust etc owners may experience errors or overheating usually throwing out a cooling performance is low warning message on the dash.

Thanks I was hoping that was the case! It's done 115k miles so is out of the relax warranty window, but should be within the hybrid warranty being less than 15 years old 🤞

Cheers for the tip about the fan and filter - Will get that looked at

Will do! Not had the warning lights flash up yet so hopefully the pending code was just a blip...

That's good news, fingers crossed it was just a blip, I've also heard weird errors can come when your 12v Battery is on its way out so there's also worth checking maybe.

So unfortunately, this evening, the pending error has translated into a dashboard 'check hybrid system' warning, so I'll contact my local dealer early next week and will hopefully get it sorted under warranty!

Does anyone know how long it will take to fix? I've a few long distance trips planned at the end of the month so hoping I'm not going to be too inconvenienced

Try a few different dealerships for availability you will probably have to pay for a 'diagnostic fee', & if your on good terms with the dealer they may just offer you a courtesy car. Or act interested in purchasing another model see it they will loan it to you whilst yours is getting repaired if you like it you may just consider buying it ;)

Plan B - Alternatively book a hire car for the dates your traveling (may not necessarily need one) but you get the best deals usually booking in advance.

Thinking about it may just be a 12v Battery dying ÂŁ200 (guestimate) fitted & your on your way. Don't want to state the obvious but you get that same error I think if you shift into Drive too quickly after pushing start.

Hey guys, so it was the hybrid Battery which was the issue and I can confirm Lexus replaced it under warranty. I've instantly noticed a much improved mpg, and fingers crossed the car will be good for another 10 years of driving!

Brilliant result!

What mileage has your car done? & what sort of MPG are you seeing after the Battery install?

Thank you for the update, reading experiences like this further my decision to continue buying Lexus vehicles going forward, dont think many other manufacturers would have completing the work on a car over a certain age, I had a E class previously (what a nightmare that was to own!) and felt like they tried to wiggle out of even legitimate claims.

Excellent outcome and great to see Lexus replacing the hybrid batteries if they fail - seems to be rare that they fail but good to know that we are covered and Lexus do as they say if the Battery does fail - I'm on 150k miles in my IS 300h and I keep it serviced by Lexus.
