Hi

The front sensors/park assist on my MK4 GS 300H keeps sounding constantly when there’s nothing there in front or around, I know they can be turned off, but ideally wanted to establish the cause of the issue…..any ideas please?

Thanks

Try squirting WD40 into the circular slot to drive out any water - or try using thin paper in the slot to remove any dirt that may be in there.

Don't laugh, but check your front number plate. I've posted about this before, I think, but if there's a build-up of dirt behind the plate and/or its supporting plinth, the sensors seem to pick up the damp muck and interpret it as 'something very close'. Hence why it can come and go in damp weather. I did a thorough clean-up and reattached the number plate with new sticky things, and have had no more trouble.

ETA - easy to see if it's going to help you - take the number plate and plinth off and see if the sensors suddenly start behaving...

I presume you have given the sensors a good clean with plain water?

Yes I did give them all a good clean, but this didn’t help unfortunately

I’ll give that a go, thanks, didn’t think to try WD40 I thought it’d cause more friction and stick

Thanks, to be honest I’m not surprised if it is that, I’ve noticed the inner two sensors are way too close to the number plate…..I’ll definitely try what you’ve said, thanks

Hi Ro. Did you manage to cure the issue you had?

Unfortunately not, tried many things from thoroughly cleaning them, cleaners, I thought it could the number plate so removed everything but no luck!

I initially noticed it happened mainly in wet weathers but then also kept happening when we had the few hot days too!!

sometimes a very little bang to the centre of the bumper stops it, I think it may be connection issues.

Im having the service done next month so will get them checked at the time.
