Speaking to someone who has just purchased a Lexus ES 300h. He has had three previous Jaguar cars. He said that the Lexus build quality is far better than all his previous Jags. His last Jag - a 2.0 diesel (Ithink?) had to have the DPF replaced at a cost of £3000! He loves the CVT box and seamless changes from electric to ICE.

For all that, there appear to be many up for sale. Is that just because a good number are reaching three years, or is more in play, such as the widely-reported theft issue?

I agree

I had a Jag XE and it was shockingly bad. Car cost >£50k new and Im glad I only paid £17k for it (even then was a bit miffed) but you cant get a 3.0l Supercharged V6 for that nowadays.

Had so many issues it was unreal including the last straw for me which was a leaking rear diff at 50k.

Sold the car within 6 months and this is what I had to do

  1. Washer fluid sensor
  2. Earthing / Ground cable
  3. Front left headlight unit
  4. All door panels removed and felt lined to stop them rattling.
  5. Rear differential oil leak

I had an ES300h as a courtesy car whilst mine was being serviced recently.A comfortable large saloon,at it's best on the motorway cruise.Probably a bit on the large size for town / city use.

However, what was really disappointing and unacceptable as far as I was concerned,is that it had  plastic seats.Come on Lexus... it's not the 1960s again. You could at least have used fabric,if not leather.

This is the same on nearly all Lexus cars these days. Depending on the model, you need at least Premium Plus or above for real leather.

You can’t even get real leather on the RZ (apparently all EV owners must be vegan).

Got a 72 plate premium edition.

Great cruiser

Excellent mpg

Bullet proof reliability.

Let down by...

Poor infotainment

Too many areas with scratchy hard plastics. Feeling a little down market certainly compared to my previous bmw 530d.
