New RX lead times

Hi

It's possible I'll order a factory build 450h+ next week.

Anyone know what the current/usual lead times are? I assume they are built in Japan and then have a long journey around the world to the UK.

I took delivery of a new RX450h+ in March this year and at that point there was significant UK stock with a further shipment close to docking. I was able to get the exact spec that I wanted (colour/trim/options) without difficulty so speak to your dealer.

Factory orders can vary in timescale but an order placed this month should be in the UK by August.

I'm pretty sure that tow bars can be fitted at the distribution hub (Derby).

Our dealer fitted a tow bar (genuine Lexus) when we received our new RX last summer, so I’d hope that you would find no problems.

I'm guessing the dealer I'm talking to cannot source the car in the colour I want so is saying it needs a factory order.

Yeah, dealers like to get rid of the stock they have bought first over factory orders. They can't really refuse you a factory order, they just get lumbered with cars pilling up on their forecourt (possibly waiting for car thieves to pinch them). I have a feeling they have to shift those within 30 or 60 days or something otherwise their sales managers are not happy.
