Rx450h 2013 - Dog cage sat sits on the folded back seat

Hi looking for a dog cage that can effectively sit on the folded back rests of our rx450h 2013. This would allow the use of the rear boot space and an access path of getting in and out for the dog. Barriers don’t really work as they twist due to the different front seat positions.

any ideas or solutions would be useful

Depends on what you want to spend. At one end of the spectrum you could fit a Thule aluminium rear entry cage (around £600 though) and at the other there's ones like this for just under £80: https://gallop-store.co.uk/72128-dog-carrier-nobby-pet-skudo-5-iata-grey-79x58-5x65-cm

We used a similar but slightly large one ike this when we had our GWP and he was happy enough in it. I'd advise against the cheap steel mesh crates. Bases are cheap plastic and crack as soon as look at them and they're uncomfortable for the dog is it needs support on corners etc

thanks for the ideas.

Ideally a cage in the sense that the dog can see out and not so enclosed. The only problem with the "nobby" crate solution is the exit would be on a passenger door, it would have to a shorter /smaller version so the dog can exit out the boot.

whats the Thule solution?

Hi Paul,

looked up Thule and certainly doable, have it longitudinal behind a seat, quick access flap down for viewing and openin in to boot area and exit as normal down the ramp
