Hi all,

Currently I am experiencing an issue with one of my struts in where it leaks air. You can here it from the outside. In a couple of hours (8) it’s flat. Compressor has no problem getting it leveld and driving is still possible. But I need to replace the airbag.

Original struts are 2200 euro’s inclusing labor. Not doable as I also have issues with a bearing on the front which requires a new strut at some point.

I came across a conversion kit from BC racing in another topic which would be complete out of the box.

On the other hand I want to try out the replica struts available ranging between 200-400 euro’s each. In antoher topic I have read someone had positive experiences with that. Only thing I am concerned about is the 1-1 fit.

So what to do? And are there any other experiences with replica struts?

it’s an 2005 RX300 u3 with 198k kilomters. Engine and gearbox are fine. Had belt etc replaced just recently and my wife actually realy loves the car.

To add, i am not a mechanic and rely on my local garage to replace the parts.

Added a picture. This in N mode and when it’s inflated. Seems that the top is not.

If you like the car and it's ok underneath etc I would get rid of the air altogether. A member living in Brighton did it to his RX a few years ago and all was well, I know because I went to see it!

Sounds like the most reasonable option. I could sell 2 good struts and a compressor in that case which would give me some money back.

On the other hand I dislike the fact the disamble an entire working system for 2 problems (one larger then the other)

Found a replica which should fit 1-1. Have a diy garage nearby. Found some videos on Yt and does seem doable to replace it myself.

Think we are going to find out…

I am somehow puzzled. Ordered a new strut this monday but it seems the car is not going down anymore. Must be a leak because i checked with some foam, but idk... strange stuff

In case anyone needs it in the future, I ordered this item from eBay. Also available in UK and even Aliexpress etc..It's a 1-1 fit on the 3.0L AWD RX300 2004

Great result and thanks for the info, only time will tell but if it lasts 2 years it is still 10% of the OEM part plus if you paid with PayPal you effectively have a 180 day warranty.
