Strange sound coming from the rear of the vehicle.

Hi,

For some time now, a strange and loud sound has appeared in my car, it can be heard at a speed of about 12.43 mi/h. This sound is the same when cold and after warming up... I have the impression that it is more audible from the right side. Has anyone had this happen or heard of such a problem?

Edit: Is it possible that this sound could be transmitted from the generator?

Sorry if it sounds daft but the first thing that came to mind - 

What a weird sound. All I can think of is one of these:  You sure you weren't being followed?

Wheel bearing perhaps? What happens to the sound if you knock the transmission into neutral?

Might be an aluminium heat shield vibrating because the retaining bolt has rusted.

Some of these heat shields are quite vestigial and yours might be ok to “ lose “

Sounds like something in the drive line, could be the differential.

As above rev the engine in neutral whilst stationary to eliminate the engine or ancillaries.
