White Mold andDampness on Hood Insulatin

Recommended Posts

Has anyone experienced the insulation under the hood og Lexus RX450H being damp and white with mold?  Thinking of buying a 2017 but concerned about the mold and what the causes could be or could have been.

When I faced similar concerns in the past, I found that seeking advice from professionals like those at a reputable water damage restoration service was incredibly helpful.

All mold is a function of two things. High humidity (damp) meets low airflow. The colour of the mold is due to the very insulation material found under your hood. The high level of damp of course is easily found anywhere in our country so the question really is why the low airflow that triggers that into becoming mold? Lots of potential reasons starting ,but not ending with, it's been stored under a car cover for an extended period of time.

As an issue to be concerned about I would rate it around zero.

They not only provided expert insights into the possible causes of mold but also offered practical solutions tailored to my situation. If you're still uncertain about the potential causes or worried about how to address the mold under the hood, I'd recommend reaching out to experts in car maintenance and restoration. Checking out https://www.ssrestore.cоm/ could be a good starting point to gather more information and possibly find solutions that fit your needs.

No disrespect intended, but 'causes of mold'. As I stated there are only two issues humidity and airflow. Period. It doesn't need a brain trust to work out what has your car been doing that gives rise to the aforementioned.

Are you sure the white stuff is mold? Asking because i had a similar issue on my IS300H when i first bought it and it turned out to be a leaking waterpump that splashed coolant all over. Coolant dries to a white powdery substance on black backgrounds. Look inside the engine bay and check to see if you see any pink crusty residue. Either way if its a car you are looking to buy perhaps look elsewhere as water should not be able to get to the isulation under the hood unless is coolant from the engine or someone tried to drive through a large puddle.
