World's best Lexus is a Toyota

Toyota’s are getting better. But Lexus will get better too 💫  quality and reliability wise, aren’t they identical?  It’s more superficial pleasantness in a Lexus: nicer looks, nicer cabin, better materials, sound deadening, smoothness etc?  All the ‘nice to haves’ 

Personally I’m mad we aren’t getting that new Prius 🙃

The new Prius is a great car but so is the ES....it seems that every time Lexus release a cracking good saloon (GS300V6 Mk3, GS450hMk4, ES300) it gets discontinued after a few years production.  The ES only had one thing missing from the dynamics of the older GS and that was RWD, but it is none the worse for that thanks to a very well considered traction control system and more compliant suspension.  Personally I don't much care for the looks of the newst Lexus models, although the RZ has grown on me.  In general, most people will buy with their heads and the Lexus models are so much more expensive than the Toyota chassis they're built on, most in the UK will opt for the Toyota.  The Rav4 price has steadily crept up in recent years and it, arguably, is the better buy over the NX but other than that, pricing reflects the better quality of the Lexus models, especially the interiors.  The big omission with such premium cars is the total lack of any underbody protection so whichever model one buys, a trip to your nearest Lanoguard specialist is essential.
