Insurance for LBX

Recommended Posts

Changed my car to LBX on my policy with Dial Direct and paid £442.82 including RAC and Motor Legal Protection. As I was lucky to get my car within a couple of days of making the deal, I didn't bother getting any other quotes.

Just had confirmation mine had arrived in Derbyshire for pre dealer checks, not had any updates previously, about build,or shipping.

Good to wider choice of insurance and better prices, hope LV get their fingers out in the next week or so.

LV seem to be amazingly slow in recognising the LBX in their quote list. I “spoke” with LV and they told me if it wasn’t on their published list then they wouldn’t insure it. I have been with LV for a couple of years and they have always been efficient and competitive. Wonder what the delay is?

Agree, just spoken to them (LV) as taken private number off current car, and still not added, the guy I spoke to said ring closer to time to see if added.

so looks like I will loose my 10% multi car discount

I've just raised a “complaint” with LV asking what the delay is in insuring the LBX and when it will be added to their list. Will keep you updated with outcome.

Well I got a quick reply from LV basically stating that the LBX was not yet added to their approved list so they could not offer insurance on it! When I asked when/if it would be added got typical fob off reply that they won’t know until it is added!

So no further forward at all. I must wonder why it is taking insurance companies so long to add the LBX to their approved lists, perhaps Lexus are just not big enough to gain any importance in expediting their analysis?

LV still not quoting for LBX so I am another disappointed multi-car policy customer.  On the plus side Compare the Market provided 64 quotes this morning some of which (Churchill) were quite reasonable. A few weeks ago I struggled to get a quote much below £1000.  Now down to £415.

My car is at the UK hub.  My Lexus didn’t tell me it was built or shipped but it has let me know it is in the UK.

  • 3 weeks later...

The problem Insurance issue's ( or lack of )  seems to be receding. I took delivery 4 weeks ago and managed to stay with my current insurer ( Churchill ) and just replaced my Mercedes with the LBX until renewal time in September without any increase or any admin change charges - result.

The comparison sites seem to have also improved now with some 80+ options on most of them as of this morning.

LV is now live, I’ve just done mine swapping from current car to the LBX to collect it on Tuesday.

Had a nightmare getting insured. Lexus advised car had arrived in Derby. Some 5 weeks later I my dealer was still waiting to receive it and then mysteriously it was delivered the day of my call and I could collect 48hrs later. I started the search for insurance without a reg number. Companies were not concerned at that point and provided acceptable quotes. However when I provided the car reg the next day the quotes were raised by hundreds.... Luckily the AA quote remained reasonable but they failed to send a cover note and failed to take any payment. So eventually I became insured a matter of hours before collection. Dreadful.

I had no problems getting insurance this month with LV=.  They gave me a quote for the LBX as a replacement vehicle and when I got the registration number they confirmed the cost.  The compulsory voluntary excess went up by a couple of hundred pounds but I just made a corresponding decrease to the voluntary equivalent.
