Good afternoon all,  I have recently bought a NX300h and have experienced a flat Battery (12volt).

I hooked it up to a Battery charger and left it on trickle all day.  The problem was solved and is now fully charged.

I have been told that it's possible to charge said Battery by putting the car in "Ready Mode"  So while I was cleaning it, I did the normal foot-on brake and pressed start.  I shut the door and carried on washing the car.  All the time I was out there washing and cleaning, the engine kept starting, it would run for a while and then stop and so on.

My question is this: is this the information concerning charging the car genuine and does it work?

Kind regards to all that read this and hopefully give me the definitive answer.

Yes absolutely correct, with the caveat that if the Battery has gone flat it may not fully recover and take a full charge.

The engine stopping and starting when stationary is mainly to maintain the cabin temperature at this time of year.

Quite correct information and one can reduce the times the engine starts by turning off the climate control, this is what techs do when the car is in the workshop. I just wish they could remember to turn it back on when finished, the number of times I wondered why I'm so hot (summer) or cold (winter) only to realise the climate is off!

I must admit I've never put the car into Ready mode simply when cleaning the car. Unless one habitually leaves the doors open there should be no additional drain on the 12v Battery. Just remember to leave the key fob far enough away so the doors don't constantly lock and unlock as water goes over the door handles..

Or just pop the fob into a blocker pouch kept for that specific purpose.
