What tyres do you use on your CT?

Just curious for when this becomes a consideration.  What brand / model of tyres do you use on your CT? Do any of you run winter tyre sets plus summer?

I had a car with Michelin Pilot Sport 4's fitted, they were amazing. With my last car (large saloon) I put Primacy 4 S1's on them because they were 'A' rated for wet handling and 'A' rated for fuel, but after finding that the tyres make basically no actual difference to MPG I don't think I'd worry too much about the label in the future.

At one stage I put Cross Climate 2's on (after Pilot Sports) and the car suddenly couldn't go fast around corners or roundabouts half as well!  Would that be the same on the CT? Do any of you run Cross Climate or 'all seasons' on it and still get a nice drive on dry days around the bends?

Tyres & Oil always a subject for heated debate lol!

I usually run Goodyear F1 Asymmetric on all my cars especially my high performance ones. The best tyre I have found for road noise, wet grip, wear and all round performance. The exception being the CT200h which by any stretch of the imagination is not a performance vehicle lol!         As such I let Lexus service take care of it and am very happy with the 17" Yokohama's they recommended and fitted as required.

Then again the 180+mph Honda Blackbird and any other 2 wheeler that may cross my path need to be shod with Bridgestone tyres for me

I also use the YokohamasT215/45/17TOY tyres on my CT200H.  I have just renewed my front tyres as I picked up a puncture.  They were still legal but they had been on the car for three years and had covered just under 30,000 miles which, given the state of UK roads, I thought was very good.  The rear tyre I replaced last summer had covered nearly 40,000 miles since I purchased the car, and may well have covered a lot more before it came into my possession.

Can anyone recommend a 17inch tyre for my CT200h?

The ride is definitely firm compared to my previous car, any tyres that will improve my ride quality and also give good mpg.

Currently my car is on some mid range tyre called Sunny and the roar it produces from these tyres are unbearable.

Was leaning towards Primacy 4 or Crossclimate 2 but would love to hear your thoughts on the tyres

Primacy 4 is probably the most comfortable, high quality, long lasting and safe tyre. I had Primacy 4 S on my Avensis, very noticeably quieter than the cheap 'Churchill' set on when I bought it. A rated for fuel and wet handling - although the fuel thing isn't worth making a buying choice over, fraction of an MPG if anything... They were excellent tyres, sad they went with that car. But never looked back from my CT.

I put Cross Climate 2's on a Citroen DS3, also known for having a very firm, vibrationy ride (but surprisingly competent into hard corners with the low profile tyres and sporty suspension.  The Cross Climates meant I had to slow right down to 'sensible old man' speeds around roundabouts, which granted, is a good idea in general, but I mean, if you threw it into some of the corners I did when it had Pilot Sport 3's, you would literally be rolling or in a ditch.  I got them because I was shocked how poorly the Pilot Sports did on icy streets (compared to older cars with fat, narrow tyres and little engine power).  If you like the all-year around utility, they are comfortable rolling in a straight line versus other tyres, but you are losing your ability to throw the car into hard bends so precisely. That's the best I can sum it up.

I put a lot of time researching tyres into my Avensis and Primacy 4 came out the best, as much as I was tempted to put Pilot Sport's on that as well.  ALL the big brands 'top end' tyres in the touring category offer something to stand apart... be it wet handling, braking time, etc.... but the Michelin (Primacy, CrossCimate or Pilot Sport) ALWAYS come top 5, if not #1 spot, and even if they don't, they seem to be the one that 'lasts the longest'. I always go with Michelin for that reason - as the Good Years, Pirelli's etc, all cost around the same give or take a few £, but some of the sporty ones have reputations for not lasting so long because they're softer / wear out from all the high performance - yet - somehow, Michelin is able to make all three categories of the tyres we discussed, and make them last relatively longer.

In summary: If you value driving for fun, I say Primacy or Pilot Sport.  If you want utility, all year confidence, pure comfort (driving in a straight line) then Cross Climate for sure.  The other big brands all cost similar but don't give the same long lasting guarantee for your money, so for the spending, why not go with the Michelin brand.

I don't get paid to recommend them.. but if anyone from Michelin wants to hand me a few £ I wouldn't say no for all the money I've spent on their products lol

Wow, that was very helpful indeed 😁 👍 🙏

Well I live in the city London and once in a month travel Manchester around 4 hours journey. Had Crossclimate on my previous vehicle RX400h and they were great, in fact those tyres gave me extra confidence driving in tricky bad full of potholes roads and on rainy days the grip was amazing.

Now that I replaced it with a CT200h (came with budget/mid range tyres fitted) I want to stick to Michelin because of the past experience.

Obviously the CT is not a sports car by any means but the sports mode really does make it fun to drive though.

Obviously my current tyres are bad they produce a roar sound when moving off, their very noisy on the motorway and doesn't really help with the already slight firm ride of the CT

I think I will go ahead with the Primacy 4 due to low road noise rating and fuel economy reasons.

Crossclimate around London city won't be needed as we barely get any snow/icy weather conditions unlike the north on England, and considering the the size of the CT the Primacy non XL version will be better suited for a small luxury hatch like these. If I was living in north of England where the winter is always icy cold damp then no doubt I would have easily picked the Crossclimate.

Anyways once I get the tyres fitted balanced and wheel alignment done as well, i will update on this thread. Really hoping the Primacy 4s improve the comfort of the ride a bit as I always had Crossclimate in my previous cars.

fuel economy reasons.

Apparently you're lucky to see more than 1mpg difference per 'ABC' rating on the tyre labels in the real world. I got Primacy 4 S on my old Avensis, A rated in wet and A rated for fuel, up from F rated cheapo tyres. Zero difference, so I no longer take that into account. Primacy's are comfortable though.

I went for four Pilot Sport 5's recently, must post a bit of a review for them on a CT. Worth. Every. Penny.
