Excellent result. Drove 40 miles with new bits on. Less rattle, tighter drive and brakes feel much better.

I ended up paying £1060 all in.

Lexus quote £2700.

This mpg is as high as is achievable over a 40 mile cross country run.

Good news the car now steer and brakes well 👍🏻

The MPG is best checker over a tank full, best I managed in the summer at the motorway speed limit was 33mpg 👍🏻

One of your most sensible decisions ever …… absolutely no point having a fab car that one’s afraid to use coz of some silly worry about putting miles on an invincible engine and / or saving a few bob on the insce costs whatever ….. Excellent decision 👍

Or indeed preserving its “ status “ for some later owner to drive and enjoy

ENJOY 😊

All good again. Just have to get rid of insulation tape residue.

Colour looks ok from 10 feet.

When I take it to paint shop will get it matched.

Throttle controller plumbed in.

Have to say I am not overly impressed.

Economy mode does slow things down a bit but hooligan mode with TCS turned off did not light up the tyres.

But at least it does something and has a bypass mode and only cost £22.

Needed jump starting again. We did run the antenna motor a fair few times in our efforts to insert new mast, but having driven 40 miles on Wednesday maybe the 12v Battery is getting old.

it is approx 6 years old now.

Is a Yuasa. What is the gold standard Battery for this car?

https://www.mlperformance.co.uk/products/genuine-lexus-28800-yzzzh-sc430-starter-battery    ???

Or choice of...

There is a lot going on as soon as you open door and put key in ignition, electric wise.

Two choices I would use..

Yuasa 5 year guarantee….

…or Bosch silver top.

my car came with a Yuasa 4 year guarantee been good so far ..

My Yuasa experiences are good. 5 year warranty lasted 8 years on my 91 car

VARTA are POOR and to be avoided …… didn’t even last the 4yr warranty in my Honda Legend ……. and replaced under warranty recently 😄

It can be very inconvenient when the Battery lets you down unexpectedly

I shall get a silver Yuasa from Halfords and attempt to use my 15% discount card that has been sitting idle in my wallet for years.

I got my first Yuasa from Halfords back in 2016, never heard of them before that.

Being Japanese i thought would complement my Lexus well, not looked at another brand since then , had them fitted to a pair of RAV4’s and my previous SC430 👍🏻

15% is a helpful saving …that will make you smile ! 😉

Managed to get one £94 delivered.

 Yuasa YBX5096

Halfords have HSB5096....the previous iteration.

Before Easter

Existing Battery seems good for one fire up. Starting it up just to take it in out of garage and messing with aerial motor appears too much for a third fire up.
