Don't think I have seen one anywhere close to that price. Low mileage, but still looks pricey to me.

Probably a very desirable car but I can’t see many people will want to pay that for an SC. If they are not willing to drop the price they are going to have dead money hanging around for a long time. Needs to be below 20k to make it a viable buy. I paid half that for mine 5 years older with 7600 miles on the clock. This one is higher tax and you would have to get agreed value insurance and at the price you would have to pay for a professional valuation and who knows what that would come out at.  If you didn’t do that and it was written off you would be lucky to get 10-12k

Hi Bob. Yes, under the carpeted right corner. But I couldn't understand that nothing else in there was rusty of even wet. Why did that take such a battering?

Bytheway, Thanks Malc1.

Water can collect in the side wells, then dry up in the summer months .

I'll have to re-check that it is sound and try to seal it, if necessary.

The meanwhile, any ideas for a plugnplay replacement source (3-pin rather than the newer 2-pin).

My original dealer fit scorpion rear park kit stopped working , so replaced it with a Dolphin kit.

Thanks Bob, but to be honest that looks very similar to the Gadgetman kit I already have. I was hoping to not have to go down the route of replacing everything, but just the control box. The dolphin appears to also connect with 2-pin plugs, and not the 3-pin of the original.

I fitted the same make to mine front and rear but used the flush mount ones. The blue was a perfect match for the original indigo ink pearl paint on the earlier Lexus SC’s and you would never know that weren’t fitted at the time of production. I have to say the flush one’s are a pig to fit as they are fitted from the inside of the bumper plus the double sided adhesive is not strong enough and a couple of them I also had to cut down the mounting plate due to limited space for fixing.

I'll keep trying for a direct swap, but will bring the new kit with the car on Sunday. It has 6 silver bumper sensors (2 for the front) to match my car.

34 for sale on Autotrader as at today. That's the highest number since I started looking in summer last year. Really good cross section of mileage available, but dare I say it the premium asked for that continues to be overloaded. Above 10k in my view you're entering a sticky market.

If they don't sell now with this fine top-down summer weather then they will kollapz in price till next spring ..........  recession, increase in taxation and winter of discontent on the labour front pertaining !  🤑😉🤔🙃

....................... and the car dealer owners will be wanting to shift / unload expensive to finance " dead " stock

Not waving your blue flag there?

Reality aforethought methinks  ................ let's see how this all works out ................ it might all be beer and skittles going forward of course but somehow I'm thinking car prices in general will be a bit " up in the air "  ...........  and run of the mill specialist cars like the Lexus Premium models could be a little vulnerable to value fluctuations

Today looking at the East Anglia Car Auctions website offerings for this weekend's auction event ...  so so many with  " No Reserve  "  ........  an exceptionally high number compared to how I've seen it in recent past times .....  they send me the link  ..........  thinking owners just want noosey car around their necks Gone and .............. Cash In

Hope I'm wrong and all will be fine and dandy after 4th July BUT  ............  anyone got crystal balls  ??   🤣   ....  no bets taken here, I'm labouring a bit 😂😁😇

Of all the SC facelift models I’ve saved on the Auto Trader app, this one tops the unsold times at 33 weeks ☹️

Personally I think for that price the mileage needs to be half that amount.

Has the Hayling Island black one sold yet?

No longer listed but could have taken it off the market due to lack of interest.

I like the pre-facelift models. I guess the extra gear might aid economy, but otherwise not as good value.

I’ve owned both late and early examples, my concerns now are the early cars can be very corroded underneath, this can lead onto rusting to abs reluctor rings on the rear hubs .

For me this time around I went as young as I could afford within my budget, now have a mid 2007 with 59k on the clock.

I’ve cleaned and painted all the suspension….clearly I don’t get out much ! 😁😁

But once you've sorted the crusty bits with wire brush and lanoguard is it ……. done reluctor rings and simplistic preventative maintenance like radiator change, cambelt waterpump etc  …….. whatever you buy could last you for the rest of your time driving maybe 🤔😂👍

I tend to agree with you although Bob's point about corrosion is probably the top of the list for checking before leaping. One of the issues of course now and probably even more so going forward is the level of road tax that will be applied to a car that lets face it is going to usually do fairly light mileage. So, choice is pre tax change  2006 half price of the later face lifts. I think the former might gain some ground in terms of appeal over the matter if for no other reason. A labour govt could do even more damage in that area.

Just as long as It lasts until the Sunday meet … I’ll be happy 👍🏻

Problems on the horizon are cost of insurance and what the next government will do about older cars and zero emissions 🙄🙄

Next Govt will I’m sure SuperTax red cars and zero tax blue cars ……. So get your correct colour SC430 NOW !

All other car colours or shades will pay a flat £1000 pa Road Tax ……. to make it simple ……… discuss 😇

Lexus cars will be Tax Free at 40 years young …… no other marques will survive that long

Prison Overcrowding will cease at a stroke …….. 3or 4 to a Cell being the norm and acceptable to the rest of Society

Public Flogging will return as will the Village Stocks

and the Death Sentence automatic for those that hold the NHS and Emergency Services to ransom from hacking ……. or indeed anything !

Let's make life more simple and effective 😄

Elon Musk will get his US$ 59,000,000,000 dividend provided he can only spend it on the Moon and gets there in a Tesla …….. and stays there 🥳

BUT  I’m sure there’ll be much more rational decisions being made by the next Govt of whichever hue, especially if being held to account /. ransom by Farage in cahoots with the Green Democrats liberally spread all over l

Of course we are …….. we just have rather more experience at avoiding accidents ……… so anyone under the age of 47 should be forced off the road coz they don’t have that skill set 🤔🙌
