Hi All,

Would like to say hello and share a few observations from my early ownership of our 2022 RX 450H F Sport (4th generation).

Following your advice (issue widely discussed on the forum), before I collected the car I had the anti-theft canbus plates fitted by Lexus.

I also got a second set of winter wheels, which came with new TPMS sensors that needed to be coded in to get tyre pressure readings on the dash as well as to get rid of the warning light. All local tyre garages were not able to help, as they were not able to handle Lexus TPMS sensors. When I contacted Lexus garage, their lovely call center agent struggled to see the point of my request, and eventually suggested an appointment several weeks later at the hefty cost of £150. As it was way too late for me, I kept looking.

As I could not find any relevant info on this issue here, I thought at some point somebody else may find it useful. TPMS sensors have got unique IDs that need to be coded into the car. If you have got multiple sets of wheels, you may wish to have all sensors coded in so that when you swap one set with the other, the car will always be able to detect and "see" them. I found that good tyre garages are able to do it.

We then went on our first hols and drove through Europe to Austrian Alps and several other places before we returned. We covered almost 3,000 miles. I found the car indeed very comfortable. Road and wind noise is really well insulated even at high autobahn speeds (one needs to get used to the operation of the lexus gearbox and its specific engine noise during acceleration). Despite the fact RX does not have a conventional 4 wheel drive, I found hybrid system to be very effective and had no issues with the traction (we were driving daily from the hotel to the end of the valley, where main ski lifts were).

As I used to drive diesel cars, with RX I had concerns about fuel economy and I need to admit, I found it to be acceptable - RX averaged 29.3 mpg for the whole journey, which was comparable to my friend's BMW X5 (6 cylinder diesel). Needless to say, RX covered whole distance with no issues. Well, there is actually one - I found front central armrest to be quite squeaky - is it typical or shall I get it looked into?

On the whole RX has been growing on me and so far I'm very happy with the purchase.

Thanks.

Welcome, KSD, and I hope you are enjoying your RX - I am on my third RX and absolutely love the car.

Sorry, I can't help with the tyre pressure coding, but as you suggest a quality tyre supplier would be able to do it.  As for fuel economy, you should be able to achieve mid thirties MPG.  I have found that the luxurious nature of the RX encourages a less hurried driving style, which in turn improves fuel economy.  You can check your driving style and any recommendations from your Lexus Link + app - I was surprised to receive an observation about my driving style in my other car - UX 250h Takumi AWD - that I tended to accelerate away too quickly!  That's me told!

I would assume the TPMS corresponds to a specific wheel location so you would need to keep track of which wheel goes where.

No that isn't needed. The vehicle has multiple sensors to locate each wheel. If you change wheels/rotate your tyres then you need to reinitialise the system using the dashboard menu so it learns the new positions (and desired tyre pressures).

To register new sensors with the vehicle then you need a tool such as Carista, Techstream etc.
