Anyone here owned a Ferrari...

My wife has just become an ex-wife and taken my Ferrari Fund with her. It's swings and roundabouts really. I now have a quiet life but my chances of jumping into something red, noisy and Italian when I felt like some fun have now gone. Would I have really wanted to run a Ferrari given that I knew how much maintenance was?  Probably not. I've driven Ferraris at Experiences up and down the country and it's a nice way to do it. Nobody is going to nick it, pee on it or scratch it. Your sitting next to an instructor who will guide you to getting the most out of your time with the car, and as long as you've signed the disclaimer, if you bin it you can walk away happy. Am I bitter? Yes.

Hang on James, its only money? Who cares about trivial things like cars, houses, holidays? You have to go through life and have seen the dark side to realy appreciate the positives. Cars are not part of that. Its about health, children, family safety food nothing else.

I think if you can afford to buy the Ferrari, then  set aside money not just for maintenance and wear and tear, but other issues.

I don't think mpg is a factor, but depreciation maybe.

Parking - these cars are wide, also not forgetting how low they are, speed bumps  are a no go.

Nor trying to put you off, but possibly most ferrari drivers only drive their cars in the dry and in spring & summer, so not an all year round car.

So it comes down to.. is the Ferrari special and makes you feel good and if answer is yes, go for it and enjoy... Something that most of us can only dream of.

Ive not owned a Ferrari, but I watch a Youtube channel called JayEmm on cars & he owns a few second hand ones, it seems like he spends more time trying to keep them running than driving them, but he also seems to enjoy the trials of owning such cars. 

Recently he did this video about the long term issues hes had with his F430, seems like even if youre happy to throw money at the car it can still be a headache. Youre also limited to who can service & repair the car, got a local Ferrari specialist?

Following RCF's video above,I was parked in the local supermarket car park a few months ago.A guy pulled up near me in a F430,got out and had great difficulty getting the car to lock from his key fob.After a short while he started swearing at it and eventually it locked.As he walked past me,I suggested he learned to swear in Italian and the car may understand him.

Some people have no sense of humour as he stomped off in disgust.(He was wearing a Richard Mille watch which,if genuine,was worth more than his car).

Yes it is true some people are arrogant and think they are better than others just because they own a flashy car.

I regular have people looking at my other car (Bentley) I have had father's with kids and happily invited them to take pictures sat in the car and some of them have been surprised (don't know why).

Also I believe true rich people don't show off

I gate crashed a work colleagues leaving do(head hunted to go and work abroad) recently, got chatting to his two neighbours, one was a yacht dealer and other the manager of a Ferrari dealer, who's driven more Ferraris than I've had hot dinners. 

Some reality interesting stories, including been invited to Michael Suchmacers official retirement party as Monza where Michael ragged an Enzo around Monza. That really is priceless!!! 

What really amazed me though was which car brand the manager really admired the most..... The Chinese manufacturers that's coming, BYD, MG etc. His own car that he spends his money on, was a MG!!!!

Amazing how all of us normalise the prevailages we have every day and fantaisie about irrelevance of what others have. I also need go and have a word with our neighbours and understand why they aren't in line of selling yachts and Ferraris :).
