So yet another suspected attempt on an RX.

Not going into details on security but IMHO:

- The plates that Lexus fit do work

- Put additional security into the car.  You are spending tens of thousands already.  Don't cheapskate on it.

- Save up and put away some funds for a new bumper.  Anyone know the cost to replace a bumper, Parts and Labour?

A positive post and it does prove the plates work, but by that point sadly the bumper is ruined.

It could be worse but I think anyone with an RX at the moment is looking at when, not if.

I would also advise RX owners not to keep anything in the car that would be a pain to replace.

Are they stealing the cars to get spares which cannot be got from Japan? Maybe they are being stolen to get replacement bumpers for those damaged during an unsuccessful theft. 🙂

Anyone know of any super hard bonding or resin that could be applied over the edge of the plastics (wheel arches and bumper gaps) to stop them inserting a tool in there in the first place?  Just fill the gaps and they can't take them off.

I very much doubt it, maybe parts for a 10-year old Focus can be passed on quickly via eBay etc.  I think most 4th Gen vehicles are either covered under Relax warranty or would be repaired at a reputable establishment.

I think most likely export to countries with right hand drive were there is less diligence on a vehicles provenance.

Maybe a permanent sticker with "CanBus Protected" on the wheel arch?

I also think that having some windows stickers advertising a brand of security stopped them from doing any further damage and they gave up
