You are talking at cross purposes. Steve was referring to people at an age where you have done some hard miles to earn the right to a toy if such is your wish. Been there done that with my boys first insurance costs. Bank of dad.

I drove a Rover 3500 when I was 19. (1982) Annual insurance was far more than value of car. I stumped up. Could have driven a Mini.

To be fair Malc there has been no issues apart from consumables. The only "repair" I have had done was the parking brake mechanism. I was really talking about long term reliability - but as you have stated before, it will probably see me out!

Thanks Brian, that's close to my thoughts ie tax the Jag but use the Lexus insurance cover 🤔to drive it on the odd occasion

When you look at say St. Paul's Cathedral either it's a stunningly beautiful architectural masterpiece that brings joy to your emotions or its a cold draughty edifice that must cost a fortune to heat. It’s been in her family for about 10 years and now of zilch value to anyone ….. dings and dents whatever . A simple base model 20 years old and only ever used recent years as that “ emergency car runabout ” when the other 2or 3 just aren’t available, being serviced etc
