Hillman Imp I bought brand new in 1969 age 19 ( on finance of course ) having p/exd my 1965 Mk1 Cortina which followed on from my 1954. ? Austin whatever at age 17 that cost me £4 and in cash too 😂

Agree ISF was a keeper -  but i replaced my wife’s RS4 with it while she was out of the country.  She wasn’t ever really happy, as it lacked proper space in the rear and boot at a time when we were breeding.

The LC replaced my Boxster S, and my wife went nuts, as we now had ten litres of Lexus v8 outside and it was all for me.  ISF was duly replaced by RX 450h as our family car, and our marriage got back on track.

If you have kids and stuff and youre only going to have one car ISF beats LC500 easily.  I’d have one again in a heartbeat.

Less than 2 kids?  Not too much luggage?  LC500 totally knocks ISF out of the park.

The 2022 Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance arrives to bring a V8 engine back to the model lineup. For the US market only, the new saloon also launches the brand's F Sport Performance line of more hardcore vehicles but not quite as mean as the full-fat F vehicles 

As the name implies, the IS 500 F Sport Performance packs a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 making 472 bhp (352 kilowatts) at 7,100 rpm and 395 pound-feet (535.5 Newton-metres) of torque at 4,800 revs. The only gearbox option is an eight-speed automatic. The saloon can hit 60 miles per hour (96 kilometres per hour) in 4.5 seconds. Lexus estimates 24 miles per gallon highway fuel economy.

The imp was fun in its own way...74 M reg and a petrol blue colour...it was in a sad state in someones back garden full of pigeon baskets and not far off being a pigeon coop itself, knocked on the door and bought it for £300 in 1980. Turned out nice after doing it up and served me well for two years...used to call it Buzz Bomb 🤣

I haven't had what you might consider and out and out sports car.  Can't really see the point unless you have deep pockets and want a second car to track or drive in a few places where you can enjoy the experience.  I have owned a number of what might be considered in their day to be sporting versions of a few cars.  The first was an MG Magnette series 2 ZB. There were two Mercedes, an SLC and a W124 coupe, an Opel Monza, an Opel Commodore 2 door GSE,  several Fiat 130 3200 2 door coupes and a Maserati Indy 2 door 4 seater coupe. All other cars have been general 4 door saloons.

Due to back problem need SUV, so too late for sports car now. Have to live on memories of rides in Ferrari, Porcshe, Jensen, Peerless and a few others.

Yeah the 2.3 was out or reach for the likes of me lol but the two litre cortina was my first “performance” car -  legend has it that it would do 125mph* and had a penchant for unintended 180s in the wet  - or so they say.  

i wouldn’t know of course.

For me it was, the 2.3 Ghia,  just one of our family cars alongside the Vauxhall VX2300 estate …… having 4 very young kids …… and my long standing 1969 Wolseley 16/60 that I’d had since forever and went to the scrapper, me heartbroken, in 1982 …… the starting handle exercise regime oft used 😂

Then my sports cars 😂 ……  4ltr V8s …… Ls400s,  again forever these past 25 years or so 

I’d never worried about “ performance “ with cars …… they’ve all just been super strong powerful unassuming “wolves in sheep’s clothing”  tbh

I really like the IS500 but the quad exhaust doesn’t sit right with me….feels like that’s something that should have been kept for F-cars.

Remember that period well Malc. Couple of Italian marques lost a lot of credibility due to using sub par steel in their cars that resulted in them becoming known as the proverbial rust buckets.
