Kumho tyres ok ??

Hi Malc,

Yes I had a new front set on my old Celsior, think they were “Ecsta” 235/45/17s.

No problems with them, good all weather grip, low noise and wore evenly.

Can’t remember what mileage they did though but with my annual mileage of around 2K a year didn’t wear out.

My Falkens are brilliant and I would use those again but seem to have fallen off the radar unless I pay 50% more than last time 😰 …… and hard to track down too

Yes, on my LS400. Also had them on  previous car. I considered them good value overall. I don't drive enthusiastically, so can't comment on the handling. Decent wear intervals - depending on price, would have them again

I have just replaced Kumho with Nexen in my GS. They were good but I decided to try Nexen.

When I bought my GS, it had the Kumho Ecsta put by the previous owner. They were good, not noisy and never had any problems in nearly 2 years (from December 2021 until last 3rd October when I replaced them). I must say that my mileage is very low: about 4,000 - 5,000 Kms per year and very relaxed driving only commuting to work 5 days a week, 20 Kms per day. The reason why I chose Nexen is because they were cheaper than Kumho though being labelled A for grip on wet and B for fuel consumption and a friend of mine had tried them already and was positively impressed and I read many good reviews online.

Hi Malc, did you eventually put Kumho? I am considering Kumho Ecsta HS52 for my wife's car as they came 3rd behind Continental and Michelin in the test of the Swiss TCS.

Actually NO …… I found a better source of the Falkens and shod with those yet again 

But Kumho came very close …… I changed my supplier to ProTyres a local provider too

I really don’t know 🤔 ……. whatever ProTyres had available from their supplier …… I had to wait a day for their stock to arrive for fitting 

I do understand there are various Falken tyre styles but for me, being a simple soul and normal non aggressive driving  ….. I was happy with whatever they could supply 

Just bought another one ( pothole destroyed )  for my Honda Legend too and £125 “ all-up” 

No tyres are inexpensive these days !

I was just curious as one type of Falken has also been tested by the Swiss TCS. Yes all tyres are quite expensive now but maybe your LS like my GS needs a big size?

1995 Lexus Ls400. is  225/60/16
