Coming back to this Aluminium roof I find it hard to give up the idea . Looking for a work around of using something with the Aluminium that would cover any areas that were filled. For lord knows what reason I started thinking aircraft ....

No, that feels 'cheesy'. Anyway it really should have something that keys to it's lineage. may be this if it is not getting into contentious areas. Who wants to be a target . Not me. Actually you could drop the polished Aluminium idea and simply redo the main roof panel in logo style. This below ,or something conceptually along those lines. May be just some meaningful number 05 year of manufacture for example. I think I will have a tinker in Paint. My friend next door has a drone so I think I will get him to take an aerial shot of the car for me to put into Paint to mess around with. Guess this stuff might look a bit sad, but this is exactly why I bought this car so that I could basically 'play around' with it and try and get a little creative with it.

also plus put a spare wheel under the car for good measure when working underneath.

A simple extra precaution that I also used to do as a lad.  I still do  even if simply taking a wheel off.  After all, it has to go somewhere - might as well be somewhere useful!.

Indeed Len. I thought I would borrow the spare out of my daughters Aygo. She won't miss it, she doesn't even know she has one.

Here is the updated version of a 3 ton low profile jack I have had for some years. I can recommend it. There is a special offer on at the moment.

Another jack deal at SGS, I have had this jack for several years without issue and £100 for a 3 ton low profile sounds unbeatable.

Looks good value, although I prefer the Halfords one currently on offer that has a lower profile and lifts higher, although more expensive:
