The glass on the drivers side wing mirror has started to 'fade' - it looks like a film is peeling off.

I'm trying to find out how to remove the glass as I can see a replacement is available but it states it clips on. Before buying one I'd like to know how to fit it.  I can't find a manual thatshows this - anyone know how to do it?

Thanks

It should just unclip from the bezel, there is a single wire to disconnect that powers the heater element.

So, just grip and pull then?

Pick one edge and work on that, the bezel is in the centre and around 3" diameter with little lugs on it.

IIRC its a pull and slight twist.

Thanks, I'll give it a go

One thing to be aware of is that most replacement mirrors are not tinted with the special liquid in the same way as the factory mirror. I have not replace mine which is 'running' for this reason, factory mirror is £350 ish (unless someone knows of a better source).

If one is happy to use a bespoke stick-on replacement non tinted non heated glass mirror they can be ordered relatively inexpensive

I bought one for my Ls400 @ £25 a couple of years ago ….. I had to send a paper template so be careful about that

The new glass picks up the “ heat” from the original glass anyway !

A comparatively inexpensive fix if one wished to go that route !

I bought a replacement on eBay for £15, but it would not fit properly, the top locating lugs were too large.

Also the existing mirror has four wires, two are for the heating element and plug into two terminals on the back of the glass, the other pair are in a plug-in connector and these did not exist on the replacement - no idea what they are for.

Now looking for a genuine replacement
