Meisters. Would there be two types for Mk1 and Mk 2 car?

Seems cost of coilovers is less than standard shocks and springs?

The bolt fixing are the same for facelift and non-facelift so Meisters should fit all.

its the standard spring/shocks that are different on the two models , facelift had more tapered springs at the bottom, so not interchangeable with the older model .

So. Clean pass MOT end of November. Same last year. (Two different MOT locations)

Two weeks later Lexus Canterbury red flagged two shock absorbers in Health Check during service.

Who do I believe?

I would go with the MOT stations especially as you have 2 independent of each other. If your healthcheck was anything like mine it has little to offer of value and I simply would not trust it enough to do anything of note to my car based on it.

What I would do is got to a suspension specialist and get a quick inspection giving another opinion. My experience of Lexus service centres is that they like to point out the tiniest of issues or potential issues. To be fair, they are doing nothing wrong but they can be a bit pessimistic for reasons which you can probably figure out.💸🤨

Get the next MOT done a month before the due date and take stock of all that's said .......  probably be no different to this year ....  unless you're going to put stellar mileage on the car !

You can bounce the back of the car to see how it reacts but how does it drive? That's the key.

Almost everyone likes Meister. They are better than the originals especially old originals and they are adjustable but there are alternatives.

If the standard suspension on the SC was the same as it is in the GS3 is would have been fine but Lexus set it up to be quite soft so the handling is biased that way and therefore compromised. From memory the aftermarket coilovers improved the ride and handling significantly but my addition of very wide low profiles take that comfort gain away.

Just replaced the fronts on the GS with original Lexus units and they were about £360 each.

Yes Yes Yes, it is Christmas Day and I am asking a Lexus question. BUT my excuse is it IS my Christmas present.

So.

Reversing sensors seem to be on my bumper. How would the beep beep manifest itself? I understand they may have been fitted by dealers rather than stock.

Do I have to activate them in some way? Or maybe they just don't work.

I guess I have the same make as yours if dealer fitted….they also don’t work !..maybe it’s an age thing.

unit is a scorpion SPS9040 and mine was tucked up behind the boot lining near the o/s back light .

(I did find a used unit on eBay but could well be a dud as well).

i have an after market kit here and if I can get the outer sensors off through the fog lamp hole, I will set up a two sensor system.

Other option remove bumper..not difficult just fiddly.

Back up camera through the sat/sav display was a popular option a few years back with SC drivers….cheaper option …..use mirrors ! 😂😂👍🏻

Got it booked into under treatment guy early Jan.

I will be sure to post before and after pics. Hoping not too crusty.

Rear sensors were a dealer fit option, well known for not working. A back up cam is easy to fit and so are aftermarket sensors. I find the SC awkward for reversing, all of my bigger cars are/have been much easier.

At a party type thing this eve. A similar aged guy actually knew that the SC430 existed! And thought it was a great mid life crisis choice.

He works for Ricardo.

Perhaps we should stop promoting them, they seem to be appearing more often recently. I followed another one along the A272 the other day. Early model black 05 plate, looked very nice. Unfortunately I was in the GS not the SC.

Best thing to treat door window rubbers? Gummi Pflege? if they are rubber, seem quite hard.

I used Gummi. Took 3 applications ,but at the end I was very pleased by the transformation . It's on pics somewhere. So that was about 3 months ago and they still look great so I have not reapplied yet. Probably won't until the car comes out from undercovers at the back  end of March , may be even April.
