These days I prevaricate far more often than I used to do, but I did get into action quickly when I bought mine from Stew. I think if you find the car that looks well sorted and the price is just in the right range then in Northern speak do not a..e around, jump on it.

Being a "tin top" convertible it has all year round appeal, so less chance of being left on forecourts during the winter months 👍🏻

It would seem that the high prices for second hand cars is ending, according to the papers. So, good luck, I am sure another one will turn up when the current owner, like most of us, will start to feel the economic pain delivered by our beloved government.

Very few of the £12-14K SC430’s on Auto Trader have sold over the last few months ….I was watching them all 🤔

I don't think I have seen even 1 go at dealer markup levels £12k +. Have seen a couple shift their price down, but no joy from that as far I can see. It would be interesting to know if this was a general market thing than model of car specific. We could then theorise it is just a general market squeeze on incomes and financing. To be honest I like it ,because I do have my eye on another , and if it is still there into the New year I might just make them a take it, or leave offer. Probably wipe out all of their margin, but hey ho it gives them liquidity to try again with somethingelse.

If dealers and private buys have purchased at prices earlier in the year  and now the general market values have dropped, it’s not looking good for them getting a sale .

Not at this time of the year although dealers have some margin to play with to get liquid.

I have to say though that if the BOE drop rates during the first qtr of next year (please do not listen to Bailey trying to talk the market otherwise, the guy is trainwreck) in tandem with the changes in budget this week then you are in effect going to see some increase in demand due to reflation. For those of us who may be buyers we are in a purple patch, but i don't think it will last past the winter season. For clarity the bond markets have already been pricing the rates change in no matter what Bailey thinks.

Arguably Malc the BOE has had more to do with juicing demand (buying a car) than any elected govt for at least 30 years.

Buying that car, that pint of milk, that new sofa, that sausage roll at the bakers, that mobility scooter, that pot of emulsion paint   ….. ol’bill Bailey ain’t to blame for too much of it all pricewise !

They have dropped this by at least £1000 whilst I have been watching. Would think they would be keen to get rid. They've had it too long I suspect and they are definitely running out of time to get a bid before the New Year.

Good colour combination..light paint ..dark interior 👍🏻

silver is not over popular and the wheel colour spoils it for me .

could be a negotiation point to get them refurbished .

if your interested ask them to email you photos of service book …..so many cars have part history …yet dealers just see it as ‘full’ !

got a timing belt sticker on engine but too small to see, so ask about belt 👍🏻

Not driven that model ,but did drive the BMW 335 coupe and I can tell you now it cannot stand up for comparison to the SC 430 I now have. I will go further I would not swap this SC 430 for a brand new BMW of that spec.

You want competition then try this. Might be 2002 ,but very low mileage.

2002 Blue Lexus SC 430 4.3 Convertible 2dr Petrol Automatic (287 g/km, 282 bhp) for sale for £10,975 in RADLETT, HERTFORDSHIRE (autotrader.co.uk)

Found one that misses the £695 tax cut off by FIVE days!

Silver with black. 3 owners. 68k miles, 12 month mot. Cambelt done 17k miles ago. Front and rear cameras. £8295

Why all these bloody silver and black ones though!

I appear to have got £8k as my upper limit for no great reason. Probably to justify buying a car that will be 20 years old before I know it.

When you say found. Do you mean ;bought; seen; driven; going to see?

It sounds promising, year, price, mileage.

The silver/black combination seems to be the most available from what I have been seeing, but most of them are from earlier years than that one.

Good luck !

Have they taken that Reg plate off?
