I hadn't realised the externally visible door sills on the new 2023 RX are an integral part of the doors and extend to the lower edge of the bodywork, this leaves a small crack leading to a void below the door seal. Any muck thrown up by the front wheels is able to get through the crack and collect on the inside lower edge of the door sill so when you open the door there's an unsightly mess to see all along the bottom edge of the door. They have fitted a rubber flap just behind the front wheel presumably to try and stop this happening but it clearly doesn't work. I don't think this is up to the design standard I expect from Lexus?

That's the case with most cars and indeed the 4th generation RX as well.

The solution is either to have the seal higher up which would lead to dirty trousers or as it is now where the dirt is on inside of the door and cleaned by the owner.
