Apologies for the "Carry on" double entendre style remarks. I just couldn't resist it. I think we should be talking about hairline??

So the old joke goes -  ---    --  Like the bald sales chap that turned up at the door and my son answered and shouted " Dad! - There's a man at the door with a bald head.  "Tell him I've already got one" I said.😭

Really sorry to hear about the hairy crack, but after studying the photo I can only say that I have certainly seen a few other hairy cracks which are far more interesting than that one.🙀

Whatever turns you on Gray ... I'm told it takes all sorts 😉 .

check it isn't water weeping under pressure from the plastic radiator shoulder. If it's that you'll need a replacement – reasonably easy replacement

Hi mate, do you mean the top plastic screw cap on the nearside of the radiator? Ive possibly got a leak from here, this is the cleaned up photo but you can still some residue. It's had a new radiator in the last 6 months, so surprised it's leaking

My problem was the side of the rad "crack". You'd know as there's always a limescale deposit. Fissure opens under pressure. Replacement job. Not too horrible, though bolts often rusted in.

Ahh yeah cheers, that's the issue I had when I had my radiator replaced last year.

In my case I'm just going to monitor, it seems to have lost around 750ml from the coolant expansion tank in a year. The radiator was still full. However it could have been a little left over air from the bleeding process when the rad was replaced. It's not a rapid loss and could well be the water pump or that engine blanking plate weeping

Yeah my coolant expansion tank drops over a month by about similar. Probably a weep around the water pump. A classic. Clue is the purple staining. Get a borescope in to check.

From what I've read, you can whip the driver's side wheel off and there is a panel you can remove (also when doing the cambelt) that gives you a visual on the water pump and so should indicate whether is leaking
