Hi, Ive just had a new key cut and programmed. This fob has 3 buttons and one is for the boot which i have now found opens the boot if i hold the boot release button in for a few seconds.

My question is should the boot pop open and rise under its own steam? the gas struts seam fine once you start manually lifting the boot lid and the boot does stay up and in place.

Many thanks

I think the function is just boot release/unlock.

The struts are standard balanced. Also remember because of the folding roof the boot needs to open/hinge both ways.

Darren.. I Always spray a very fine amount of WD 40 on the struts and touch wood have never had a problem..Hope that helps... Mind NOT A LOT

Mine is just manual lift and actually I find it quite 'heavy' at first before it rises smoothly. Everything is WD40 so I think that is just the way it is.

I think for most owners the issue is it staying in the open position in that it is a heavy old bit of metal. I replaced the struts on mine and it now stays up but I remember the scars on my head when it had dropped a bit and I came into contact with the lock when I first got the car.

They are all manual lift but I think someone in the US was trying to fit a switched boot lid actuator but I don't recall it being completed. I would be very interested in it with the extra weight of mine.
