Hi Oracle, I need some advice (again) please.

My steering wheel does not adjust in any direction. its not the cog slipping as it's not making any noise and there is no sign of life whatsoever. I bought replacement tilt and telescopic motors, switch and ECU, none according to my indy are the solution. He says he thinks it may be the control unit?

He's sent me a photo and I'm trying to find a match. the part no. is 89227-50070, but I'm finding a variety of options;

89227-50070 Amayama £249

89227-50050  eBay £149 LS400 looks different

89227- 50090  eBay £16 looks the same but is for LS430

I know the steering tilt/tele is common across other Toyota/Lexus vehicles like the Landcruiser, will the 430 modules work on my 400 do you think?

I've never heard of the ECU failing, it's usually always the motor. Mine is a bit temperamental in cold weather, but in hot weather or when the car warms up, it works fine.

Maybe you need to find yourself a new mechanic as from what I've seen and read, its always the motor that fails

I hear you Messi, I thought the same, but there are two motors and both show no life, we've tried replacing both and its not made any difference. I mean what are the chances of all 4 motors being dead?:unsure:

Shock absorber failure at 13000 miles!

Stan  ...  read this Forum post on here ........... it goes into a replacement headlamp unit ( for a blown bulb ! ) at a staggering cost of £3000 ..... and that's normal and seemingly acceptable  in modern Lexus high tec cars it seems

Be thankful your wonderful Mk4   Ls400 only has tiny comparative challenges 😇

Best wishes with sorting her out ok

Maybe it's a power issue or wiring issue somehow to the tilt and telescopic ECU and/or other bits.

I agree Razor. I previously bought this....

1998 Lexus LS400 Gen2 UCF20 Power Steering 89650-50110 Electrical module ECU Box

I'm double checking with my indy, that he's tried it? If not I've found a control box 89227-50070 which I'll have to get if the other doesn't work.
