Hey all,

Got home yesterday to discover coolant dripping from under the car.  Quick inspection today with a borescope reveals it's coming from the valley plate seal, yay.

I know some people in the UK have had this repair done so I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it cost you? And was it done by Lexus or a specialist?

Thanks in advance.

Sam recently had his done by a specialist out Essex/Kent way I believe. I'll get him to revisit the site and add his costs, times, etc.

Hi bro, had mine done in April, I took mine to a Lexus Specialist in rayleigh called westfield motors (toyota and Lexus). Dealers will charge an arm and a Leg. If I was you I would get your car towed to these guys. Most garages wouldn't touch this job and even if they did offer there's no guarantee that they will take the upmost care when doing the job.

There is a lot plastics on top the engine which is brittle. I was orginally quoted £1100 which isn't too bad compared to our German car guys lol but as they were lifting the injectors out one of them crumbled in his hand. And one injector was about £700 from Lexus 😭😭. The car has 8 injectors so I was lucky. So yeah please budget £2k + for this work for worst case scenario. My car is my daily so I had to bend over and close my eyes and let them take my money lol. The master Mechanic there his name is Andrea. After working on my car he has gained experience and now knows a safer way to try take the injectors out but there is still that risk.

I actually had to take my car back again 2 weeks later because it coolant vapour was coming from engine and we found out a new ÂŁ1 gasket he had fitted twisted during Installation. Again not something a general mechanic would take his time with. He had to take the whole intake manifold of the car again bless him. So good luck bro but if it was me I would deffo drop the car to these guys book 3 days off work and stay in a hotel. I use to drive to Birmingham to a Honda specialist to get engine work done because good work has no distance. Good luck my bro I hope all this helps

Might have lost your F, but still have your sense of humour I see lol

It is tempting to come back, but I want a change but can't decide what V8 is worth having!

Indeed lots listed there but he clearly bought a car that had been used abused and neglected maintenance wise.

Fills me with a little more comfort that a handful of you have been and had this work done 👍🏼

As per recommendations I took the car (well, the RAC took the car) to Westfield Motors for the work.  Excellent service, would definitely recommend to anyone else who needs the VP resealed.  Very happy.

Good price? Any damage caused to the injectors?

Great price, well in contrast to what I was expecting it to cost.  £1564 and that included replacing the radiator which needed doing anyway, but obviously price may vary from car to car and whatever crops up.  As far as injectors go I didn't get charged for one and the cars running great so I assume all good 🙂

That's great news. Seems like the place to go in the UK for it, for those not wanting the DIY route!

Indeed. ÂŁ1500 is still going to hurt, but I am somewhat less worried about finding coolant now....

Plus if I remove the plastic engine cover myself, I might save another ÂŁ1.00 in labour LOL

Glad you are all sorted @ubersonic
