I'm looking at buying an RX459h 2021 0n over the next few weeks. I understand that it's dependent on driving style but how many miles would you expect get out of a set of tyres. Do the fronts go first and it's usually a case of buying a pair at a time? never had 20" tyres before

If I were to replace the fronts with all season tyres, with summer tyres on the back, would this be a bad idea?

Generally speaking if changing to all season or winter tyres you should really change all four.

With the RX it is a square setup - what you could do is change the wheels over front to back and when they all wear to around 3mm get them all swapped for all seasons

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for that.

400h I know, but same principle.  I've recently changed to 4x All Season tyres and yes, agree with others on here, if you're going that way have a full set, do not mix with Summer tyres.  As I'm only doing around 5k miles pa I would expect them to last at least 3 years, hopefully more, depends on drive style.  Also it's worth remembering that many AS tyres are directional so you can only swap front to rear same side as opposed to offside to nearside (X-fashion) ... and worth thinking about what spare you choose for similar reasons. 😉
