Perforated leather and 'bits'.

Recommended Posts

I've never owned a car with perforated leather before so have noticed that numerous little bits and bobs get stuck in the holes. Some flick out with a gentle rub, some vacuum out but some are more stubborn and I have to resort to using a needle to prick the object out.

Any hints and tips?

My last car had perforated leather seats and I know what you mean. I even filled some of the holes with leather cleaner once 🙈

I was quite careful in the car to prevent as much "debris" as possible ie. no eating in the car. Might not be possible for everyone.

I've banned eating, children and well, just about everyone from my car. The mother in law has dandruff so I get her a taxi and pay for it from her own bank account! 😂

Seriously though, knocking bits through the holes lets them drop into the air channels in the cushion. You'd have to remove the seat to clear them.

My UX did have two stubborn 'bits' which evaded removal even by attempts of using a pin/needle. One in the front passenger and one in the rear passenger.  Not really noticeable if I didn’t point them out, but when you knew they were there and knew were to look - it become annoying! As someone who generally doesn’t 'do' eating in cars and has always been caring, I've no idea how it happened. I'd love to know if the dealer ever found them and if so, found a way to remove them if they decided to re-sell it on.

Fortunately my NX remains 'bit free' so far when it comes to it’s perforations. Then again, It's only a week old! 😄
