hi all.

I'am looking for some help/guidance as I'am just back from my mechanic and we have diagnosed the rear diff as the cause of the rumbling/vibration felt when driving the car.

When the car was up on the lift and  spinning either wheel  while placing my hand on either wheel bearing I could feel nothing however when i placed my hand on the diff casing there was a definite vibration  from it .

we checked the fluid and it was nice and clean, so my questions are:

1. has anyone else expierenced this and what was the cure

2. is it a common issue ?

3. whats the best way to repair it ??

thanks in advance

There is a TSB for vibration issues with the GS300h but this is an ECU update to stop the engine sitting at a specific rpm that causes resonance.

CP-0082L-0614

Models:
GS300h; IS300H

DESCRIPTION OF PHENOMENON
Some customers may experience and report vibration and droning noise when driving between 80 to 90km/h.

PRODUCTION CHANGE
1. Software logic of power management ECU has been changed.
2. Dynamic damper of Rear differential carrier has been added. (*)
* Applicable for ONLY IS300h

Cannot say whether your experience of the diff is normal or not.

hi colin ,

thanks for the info unfortunately  its definitely an issue internal to the diff itself 🫣 and will need to be replaced or fixed
