Ghost 2 immobiliser, not yet!

I am just confused, some people seem to successfully manage to install the ghost on NX with model year 23 - but apparently this should not be possible.

maybe not all canbus traffic is encrypted ? Only the one going to the lights?

I had one fitted but had it taken out as some safety features did not work, but the man from Autowatch said that they were not working on that part of the system.  They spent most of the day trying to get more two buttons to work as the pass code and run the 12 volt Battery down and that could had an effect. Lexus checked the car and all is well. Autowatch say it is good to fit.

did you get a fob for the ghost or key entry?

Neither, you have to punch in a sequence of buttons located in the car, you can program up to 20 ( as long as you have a good memory )

Just a thought, if Ghost is activated / deactivated by pressing a series of buttons, what happens as and when Lexus issue a software update?

Ghost works when the thief has entered the car, in that he will be unable to start the vehicle. However damage may have been caused by gaining entry. I appreciate that there are likely to be stickers on the window warning of Ghost, however there is no guarantee that the thief has seen them or will be deterred by them. I would prefer the DiskLok which covers the whole steering wheel and provides an immediate visual deterrent. Obviously its  downside is that it is cumbersome.

My Ghost has been on the car for 6 years, with lots of software updates, and has not had any effect.

You can go on and on with different devices, so how you try and protect you car will be down to each persons preference, any device can be got around.

DiskLok is a visual deterrent but still will not stop thieves entering your car and causing damage.

if they enter the car or smash a window, or tilt the car the alarm will go off

Autowatch believe it was the 12 volt Battery running down while they spent hours trying to get more than one button working. I had them take it out as I was driving to Scotland and needed to be sure.

Do you know if Ghost consumes any energy when activated and the car is stood idle for a few days. It has crossed my mind whether the small 12v Battery can cope🤔

I think the ghost is just a passive circuit which is activated when the car is switched on (unlike a tracker).

Please can I have the link to your ghost installer or Autowatch? I saw Autowatch on Google but I want to be sure it's the right one. I have the NX 300h 2019. Thanks

This is there official site......https://www.autowatch.co.uk.....tel 01732886777

When i had mine fitted there had not yet programmed the Ghost to work on a LC, because they couldn't get there hands on one for long enough to play with, Lexus wouldn't free one up for them, they normally have a new model car for a day or so to program the system to work.

I was having a Dash can fitted by a independent auto electrician, and he and I agreed that the team from Autowatch could use my car and see if they could get the Ghost to work, they had the car for 6 hours. the ghost has now been on the car and worked faultlessly ever since.

I would contact them, i am sure they have a list of installers, its important the system is installed correctly so it is verbally impossible to find.

Autowatch also offer a money back guarantee on the Ghost install price if the vehicle is stolen - needs to be fitted by a approved Autowatch installer & registered with Autowatch.

My NX 450h  frequently immobilises itself for no reason especially if stationary in heavy traffic ( with HOLD brake on) . It goes automatically in P mode and I have to restart the vehicle from scratch - whilst a line of cars behind are hooting, cursing  and flashing their  lights at me. Not fun.

Does not happen with the dongle that comes with the Ghost 2 setup, so problem appears to be with the Ghost 2 set-up and not Lexus.
Lexus also tell me it’s nothing to do with them and to go away & speak to the car security people , who tell me nothing to do with them and to go away and speak to Lexus.

Put the ghost into transport mode which disables the ghost completely, then see what happens

This is 100% an issue with either the Ghost OR much more likely the installation.

Plenty of automotive security installers have no absolutely no idea what they are doing with Toyota / Lexus hybrid's & cause no end of issues when they fit security systems to them.

Hi all , I've been looking to get a ghost immobiliser fitted to a lexus nx 2020 ,I've emailed a company in Nottingham to ask if it's possible to fit the ghost they have come back to me this is their reply.....

Hello I'm afraid we no

now won't endorse
the ghost and they
will invalidate the
warranty. Sorry
