When I receive a phone call from my wife the screen says unknown number although she is in the contact list on my phone and I can call her using the voice control. This situation applies to others in my call list.

When I look at call history I see a couple of names which is what I expect but many more calls appear as just a number although nearly all are in my phone contacts list. The one unexpected thing about the calls appearing as numbers is they all start with the country identifier +44. The +44 does not actually appear on my phone and maybe it is this that stops it being a perfect match.

Am I right to expect the system to display the name of the person calling if they are in my contacts list?

Any info appreciated.

Hi Les,

The Lexus software requires a perfect match because apparently they are unable to write an algorithm to just match the last, say, 10 digits of the phone number. This is another bug I reported in MM19 that they never fixed....

If you store all your numbers in your address book with the dialing code i.e. starting with +44 then it should work fine (almost all the time - unless the call happens to come in as a 3g call...)

...It seems that when you have an incoming call on 4g and above, it is seen with the international code, but on 2/3g it is seen without it.  As we move to better 4 and 5g all incoming calls will be high quality 4 or 5g and will need +44 in the address book to match the call.

Perhaps just try for the entry in the phone book of your wife and test it works before making any mass changes.

If the names that seemed to match do not have the +44 stored in the address book, they may simply have come in as 3g calls.

As usual, it's buggy and annoying but there is a work around.

Cheers,

Paul

Yes seems a reasonable expectation, I have the same experience.

I have battled with this issue of the car displaying the name of the person on my IS 300h since I bought it (now 8 years ago). I have read from some people not having the+44 sorts it out then others that having the +44 sorts it out - whatever I have tried has been inconsistent...! Your explanation may now have finally answered the inconsistency - as the 3g networks are switched off let's hope that we get more consistency going forwards with using the +44 prefix throughout.

Thank you for the advice. I've just changed up from a 2009 rx400h to a 2016 rx450h and was having the same issue, but changing the prefix to +44 on the phone contacts has solved the problem.

Well I fixed it (thanks Paul) by going into my phone's contact list and editing every number, dropping the leading zero on the numbers and replacing it with +44. The +44 numbers work ok in the phone.

Now the car shows the call history and incoming calls with the right name attached.

The infotainment system has certainly taken the shine off my ownership experience. You would think Lexus could have taken care of this. I'm sure some owners never fix this and will just live with it.

The cars keep getting good reviews with no mention of the infotainment.
