Wing mirror door attachment (circle of two pieces of plastic between door and wing mirror (not the wing mirror housing itself) cracked (due to frost?) and fell off. Told by Lexus that this part only comes with highlighted section at £457.05+vat. Any advice (apart from paying)?IMG_0632.thumb.jpeg.a0fc76ffdb8834fbb8a300d418038453.jpeg

Given the age of the car, why is this not under warranty, or at least the extended relax warranty?

Thanks for you reply. Contacted Lexus. Service manager insists it’s not covered by warranty. His take is that someone has hit the mirror and damaged the door to mirror housing. How they did that without damaging the mirror casing or the actual paintwork surrounding the housing he could not answer. The plastic door to mirror housing cannot be bought without the electronic motor ~total £457.05 + vat. Unsure whether to pay for part or leave to end of lease period, which may cost me more. 🍻

Looks like you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't. Surely frost damaged must be covered but you'll never prove it was frost damage, but on the other hand they could never prove it wasn't. You could escalate the claim to Lexus but they will just wear you down until you give up. Is it worth going through your insurance? My guess is it's not. If you think you'll have to stand the cost at the end of the lease period anyway, you might as well buy the part, use the bit you need and try and recover some of the cost by selling the part that you don't need.

Would not have much hope with Lexus UK providing assistance sadly. Almost all contact with them tends to be a fob off with dismissal of issues raised.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, it looks like I’m going to bite the bullet and buy the whole kit and caboodle, simply for the cosmetic part. I’ll try and recover some of the cost by selling the unneeded part. 🍻

There are some ES300H models being broken due to accidents, managed to find two on eBay. Acquiring the item from the breaker might be a much cheaper option?
