LS430 2001 Valuation Query

Hi,

Looking at a 2001 LS430 - good service history up to 69k back in 2012 but since then nothing. I have said that whilst the car has only done 20k since that time (88,500 miles), the cambelt and water pump will be due. How much is this and how much would you guys on here value the car roughly? My thinking was circa £2,500. Thanks.

Very difficult to put a value on these cars. Trade wise they are not worth much but to those "in the know" they can attain decent money - depending on condition.

Consider your valuation of the car and then look on AutoTrader to see what you ca.n buy for that money (other makes not just Lexus). I was somewhat surprised of how little you get for £4,000

specifically check for dreaded MOT failure rust on the rear subframe and cills areas .  there's a guy posting here very recently with just that problem having sadly,  badly bought a 51 plate Ls430

Latest advisories in MOT: 

• Nearside Front Shock absorbers has light misting of oil (5.3.2 (b))
• Offside Front Shock absorbers has light misting of oil (5.3.2 (b))

Have u got a tame/ trusted servicing guy to advise you on any of this ?

Cambelt waterpump pulley check / changes could set u back a days labour plus parts ….. it’s a big job  

he could also advise on the “ misting “ shockers ? and more hopefully

No. The lack of certified history scared me off even at £3k.
