2014 Lexus Is - 10 year service at 9 years?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just rang Lexus to sort out my annual service. Its a 2014 IS model with <90k on the clock - I expected to have the 90,000/9 year service but the agent said that because last time they did the 9 year service (apparently due to mileage, but at the last service this was 80,922) I need to have the 10 year service this time.

Has anyone come across this at all - its a ~£200 difference.

Thanks,

What did they stamp in the service book as this alternates between interim and full services. Also if you have your last invoice what did that say (it will list what they used on the service too). Seems a bit odd. I do about 15,000 miles a year (2014 reg now with 134K miles) and have simply alternated between the interim and full services every 10K miles (as the years are largely irrelevant for me).

But the next service will be cheaper (if you still retain the car), so the overall cost for a major & minor service will be the same (assuming there are no price changes).

The last service was an interim service in the book, so I guess it does work out if the next one is a full service. Thanks.

If that's so then it sounds like it is due the full 10th service. There must have been a point that the mileage/age got out of sync - perhaps the car did a lot of miles per annum for part of it's life (more than one service every 12 months) and then not many miles per annum for another part (so serviced at 12 months regardless of mileage) or it had a service out of schedule with any mileage/age, perhaps when it was sold on. So long as the interim and full services have been completed one after the other (so that should be 5 interim and 4 full stamped in the book) through it's life (no more than 10K miles / 12 months apart whichever happened to come first) then sounds like all is in order.
