This came up on Facebook randomly as things do and I thought this looked like a good idea if and when doing a timing belt change by cutting the old one in half while fitting the new one so everything stays in the right position.IMG_5756.thumb.jpeg.7dfe108d904cd03b5bc5157650c27aa9.jpeg

Fuzz showed this trick on an episode of Car SOS a few years ago. You probably want to inspect the tensioner/idle pulleys and water pump when changing the belt, if not replace them, so it might not be applicable.

I guess you are right I hadn’t thought of that.
