LBX smaller than CT200H

Hi all,

I assume most have seen the new Lexus LBX by now?

reading articles and it’s been mentioned it’s smaller than the CT200h which is a shame as I would have been interested or still could be when I actually see one in the flesh to maybe change.

with the new spec names I wonder which one is more like an F sport any ideas or you think an F sport will come later?

what are people’s thoughts on the new model?

If rear seat space is same as or (hopefully slightly larger) it would be perfect to find parking places to. And would fit in our garage.

Still hoping that a H2 in similar size will be available before the old CT needs to be replaced.

Certainly looks to have solved any minor niggles of the CT with more power, ride comfort, more Battery range and higher Battery speed, upgrade in electrical bling etc.

I was surprised to find they are staying with the old style Nickle-hydride Battery unit in preference to a Lithium-ion option but it does seem they are doing so as a suitability preference rather than a performance or cost saving reason.

Visually, for me it's a step up from the CT & the UX, and holds it's own against the other top brands.

The negatives for me is the current CT whilst reasonably adequate in front driver and passenger comfort and rarely used with more than 2 onboard anyway. Is still just about on the bottom line of having the total interior/boot space available I require. A crossover estate could be an option 😅

Plus a £35k price tag for a car doing around 3,000 mls a year to replace our ultra reliable/immaculate " Top Cat " ( wife not me) Ct needs consideration. Perhaps a test drive could be in order, never say never.

That is my concern is the room in the back and boot space if there is more room then i will seriously consider as at the moment UX seems to be default next Lexus.

as you a test drive is a must and for power I think is the same as the CT but more than it’s sister version in the Yaris Cross

It's equipped with a 3cyl 1.5 lt engine now and states 134bhp which I think is a step up from the CT200h. It is also about 70kg lighter so doubt it will be as roomy as the CT Dunno!

Even if it's a little bigger I will be fine with me my needs. The only thing I am not sure about is the less of a spindle grill, I love how the F sports grill looks and the way Lexus is going is ok but only looks like the bottom half will just be the grill and the rest make-up the outline of the spindle grill if you know what I mean.

To me, the last facelift CT is still a good-looking car considering the age of how long the CT has been around.

CT200h has the same 134 bhp maximum system output.

Same power but higher revving engine and a poor/cheap rear suspension design (on the FWD model) - not sure it's an 'upgrade' over the CT200h in those areas. I doubt the fuel economy will be much better than the CT200h.

That is a good shout about the rear suspension so 4wd could be the better option but the cost will be a premium

To be fair compared to my other vehicles, and not really being big on driving for economy.

I did get a feel good feeling when seeing a likely range in excess of 500mls, after filling the CT fuel tank up to the first shut off, on a recent trip down South 😍

Looks expensive for what it is… a posh Yaris. Don’t see the point of all these SUV proportions myself so definitely not one for me.

Pricing isn't available until October. Yaris Cross starts at £25k and I'd expect the LBX to have a premium over that so maybe £28k starting.

It would be less that the UX which starts just under £35k (with the Toyota C-HR starting around £34k).
