Hi all, my ES 300h f-sport failed an NCT (Ireland equivalent of MOT in UK) due to an imbalance in the rear axle suspension. The problem has been identified by the dealership as a rear shock absorber and the complete unit has to be replaced at a cost of 2 grand as it is outside warranty.

The car is 4 years old, 35,000km on the clock and serviced every year so it is well maintained.

Does this seem normal, has anyone had similar experience?

Why does the complete unit need to be replaced?

Is there a defect with f-sports suspension due AVS?

I feel very disappointed as Lexus is supposed to be highly regarded for it reliability.

Is this not covered by the Relax warranty? If not have you requested goodwill directly from Lexus? Based on my poor experience with Lexus UK goodwill might not be offered but worth asking.

Have you serviced the car with Lexus only?

From my understanding is that if you service with Lexus the warranty should be extended up to 10 years or 100k, whichever comes first, but this needs to be activated.

My first stamp in the service book has a WARRANTY ACTIVATED stamp, I need to check with them to make sure this is actually true.

Try asking your dealer about this.
