Hi members,

My rx400h both front control arm need changing. I have found the parts on eBay for both at £150.00 but can anyone recommend me a independent garage that knows how to replace the suspension?

I am based in east London and based on my searches can't find anybody that knows how to replace. All I get is "we can look into it and then quote labour"

I don't mind traveling a bit as long as the garage has loan/courtesy car available for the day.

Please recommend garages

Thanks

I don't know anyone in East London, so Japex in Kings Langley (Herts) are the nearest I know to you and are a Toyota/Lexus specialist, so should be able to do it. They also do loan cars if booked in advance.

Thanks, with Japex i had a negative experience with them in the past, So am avoiding them. LexTek in Sheffield don't do loan cars so thats a no....

Am hoping there are more garages that  members here can recommend

I can’t see any decent garage being willing to fit eBay parts supplied by the customer, especially not safety critical bits like suspension.

I can't see why not, its the same part just not genuine, it will do the same job as the genuine part but maybe wont last as long. Driving with a broken suspension is more safety critical issue than having it replaced with a new working part.

Partly because they can't offer any warranty on the fix as they don't know the provenance of the part. Not sure what their liability is either if the part goes pop.

That said, I'm sure there are garages that would do it, but it might take a lot of ringing around to find one.

Things is, you'd probably need someone who's done an RX before in order for them to quote over the phone, as I think it either requires a lot of labour, or someone who's familiar with a quicker way to do it. That would likely mean a Lexus specialist, who's less likely to want to fit unknown parts.
