Gear Box issues

Hi guys…

A week or two back I posted a post on here regarding my Ct200 breaking down & it’s making a loud banging & knocking sound…

After a few people looked at it the issue seems to be the gearbox.

when in P, D, R, & B the knocking & banging is really bad but when in N the knocking sound goes away… Not completely gone but it’s 90% better.

Any one know this issue or had this issue with their Lexus..,

Cheers .

This is so rare! I cant even think of one occasion seeing this here or on the much populated UK FB group.

I would look on priuschat for similar issues with the prius gen3 as it has the same gearbox.

Now I wonder, did you change the gearbox oil in the past? There's a toyota master tehnician on youtube (car care nut) that recommends changing ecvt gearbox oil every 8y/80k or dont change it all if it passes those marks.

Not good news 😞

Had a compression test done on the CT200 today…

Piston 1 : 200 psi

Piston 2 : 180 psi

Piston 3 : 170 psi

Piston 4 : 80 Psi

so the engine is nackered

So not a Gearbox problem, are you covered by the Relax warranty?

^if you service at your dealer, you get warranty up to 10y/100k miles

Sounds like a head gasket leak. Seems like its gonna affect us in the UK aswell but not as often as it happens in the US.

Sorry to hear about your issues mate, sounds like you need a new engine (usually cheaper in the states).

How's the mileage and how frequent was the oil changed in the best? I also see you have a facelift '15. Interesting, they did attempt to sort the issue with o-rings and piston changed in '14 and '15 models (facelift).

Now I wonder if your egr has been cleaned if you have high miles.

Hi thanks for the info…

I did service it regularly but at my friends garage or I did it my self…

I did clean the EGR Inlet manifold & the Throttle body last year.

They were a bit dirty now but not too bad.

My car had 170k miles on the clock I use it to travel to work daily about 100 miles per day.

It’s not the headgaskit because the oil & water are fine they not mixing etc.

I think the oil pump packed up on it & it stopped supplying oil to the engine.

Its going to get striped out in next day or two so I should have a better idea what the cause was.
