I have a MY14 LS600hl and have a question for this forum which I hope someone might provide some guidance on.  This concerns rain water leaking into the boot from both sides of the lid when opened, the water draining from the point indicated in the photos below (which corresponds to light cluster, the water beads and drains from the boot lid seam .  After a heavy downpour, the amount of wafer is significant, and is drips either side onto the carpeted boot area, both having access panels so I assume house something electrical?  The Lexus dealer has taken a quick look and had no immediate answer but I will return it to them for a more detailed investigation (car is under warranty) but it seems that rain in diverting into the boot lid in some way as the gutter which runs around the body where rain should flow is dry.

Comments, trouble shooting ideas or solutions to this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

As I understand it, you know where the water's exiting the lid and into the boot, but not where it's entering.

In the absence of a smoke machine, I'd start by running a hose over small areas of the boot, to see which area results in the leak. That would be my starting point anyway.

If you haven't already, I'd also take the carpet up and remove any access panels, to make sure water hasn't collected anywhere.

There is a rubber sealing gasket on both boot lid light clusters ( circled in red) from your description they have either failed or are missing.

Be grateful for that warranty!

Thanks for the feedback and apologies for the late reply.  I've carefully checked the gasket and it is perfectly intact, no tears or compressed areas, looks like new.  However upon closer examination, at either end of the plastic strip which runs along the length of the base of the rear window there are around 10 rectangular what I assume are drain holes?  Behind these is a of debris which has dried out and appears to be caked to the plastic.  Perhaps the rain is supposed ti drain through these channels and into the drain channel which runs along the inside length of the boot and is always bone dry?

Another quick question for this forum, two wet patches beneath the car which looks like no more than water (no small), assume A/C related to condensation, is that normal for a car of this type/age?

Thanks

In response to blue marlin, correct, its a question of how it is getting in.  No collected water anywhere, have checked for that but my concern was whether water was getting inside the boot lid itself, given how it drips and collects from around the seam of the lid but it must pool somewhere.  Next step is to try and clean out the channels but it may need the sealing strip removed which I will leave for the dealer to do.
