That’s a bit annoying. You would think that this day and age there would have been a way for it to stay active.

I couldn’t agree more!  Had auto brake on my Tarraco and it worked flawlessly and invisibly for 5 yrs

On my old 2021 RAV4 there was an option in the vehicle settings to have the auto brake option on as standard; was a bit surprised the NX didn't give the same option.

It worked well with my mistake car Jaguar S type like a racing driver with launch control. Long story had a lovely XJ and got then got a S type. Happily now on my second Lexus.

I agree that there should be an option to configure this in the vehicle settings .. either ON by default or OFF by default whenever starting the vehicle .. or to remember the setting when the vehicle was last switched off.

Looking at the comments this seems to be a marmite feature. Personally I like it for 80% of situations, but agree with @Al D-Much that it can be quite jerky in some instances, and it is not helpful when parking. But having to turn it on every time for those that wish to use it does seem rather odd.

It's "one of those" isn't it.
Opt-In or Opt-Out, which ever way the feature is configured someone won't be happy about tit.
I do like your thought that it should be a configurable by driver function.

This would be simply solved by the car 'remembering' what the status of the HOLD function was when it was last switched off.  Then people will get exactly what they want.

This is how VAG cars do it.
