Lexus independent in Glasgow west of Scotland

Dear all looking for independent lexus specialist in Glasgow west of Scotland area Looking for recommendations for repair work in north Lanarkshire and Glasgow area please for my sc430 2004
I need new radiator air compressor/air condenser and it looks like the bulbs have been removed for the check engine and vsc lights from the dashboard as they are not coming on and there are active codes in the system which are p0155-p0340-c1201 and I also have water 💦 ingress at the boot and rear quarter window passenger side

any advice would be greatly appreciated as I’ve just got the car from a private sale and I’m gutted

Welcome to Lexus Owners Club, I am sure you will get benefit from part of our friendly group.

Please don't be gutted, summer is coming and that's when SC430 ownership is at its most enjoyable.

We would all like see some pictures and for you to tell us about your car.

What are your abilities with tackling some of these problems yourself because you would save alot of money. There are YouTube clips, articles and clever helpful guys on here for guidance if you need it.

I’m afraid if I was to try to attempt any of this I would only make it worse. 
 

I’ve had the car a week and took it to Lexus Glasgow for a health check. I’ve had a few Lexus over the years and they have been great but what’s needing done to the car is just too dear so I was hoping to find a decent garage 

It’s a 2004 with 93000 miles on the clock

Great looking car and great colour, although I may be prejudiced!

My car is an 2007 with 91000 miles and was originally supplied by Lexus Edinburgh but I live in West Yorkshire.

I tried to find an independent Lexus garage locally to me but to no avail. I decided to use Lexus Leeds and I have had superb service from them, they understand it is an older car and the bills haven't been too bad. They also give me parts discount for being a Lexus Owners Club member.

You could try finding other SC430 owners in your area and see who they use.

I hope you are considering the trip down to the annual SC430 meet in Coventry in June. It would be good to meet and last year was fantastic and this year should be even better.

Hi Colin

I am sorry to hear that the car you bought has been deemed uneconomical to be put back into reliable roadworthy condition. 

With all you new found knowledge and experience I hope you find it has not soured your desire to own and run a SC430.

Thomas did come back to me and said he always used Lexus Glasgow and does not believe there is an independent Lexus Workshop in the area. I would venture there will be a really good guy in your area but it's finding him!

I'm going to guess it's around £2k to save plus any outstanding servicing, providing the rust underneath isn't too bad.

The water leaks should be easy enough to solve if no lasting damage has been done.

Researching the codes, replacing the exhaust and probably an O2 sensor would fix some of it and then the check engine light needs to be restored.

Interesting test history. MOT to Feb 24 with no advisories.

Yet in August 2020

• Exhaust system getting corroded in places
• Rear tyres worn at inner tread edges
• Rear suspension components getting a bit corroded, and subframe
• Slight surface corrosion at rear chassis areas around subframe and suspension arm mounts
