Hi All,

Hope everyone is well.

I am intending to take up a Service Plan with Lexus Edgware Road for my 2017 registered IS300h F-Sport.

The price that has been quoted by the Senior Service Advisor is a total of £2,075 for the below 5 services:-

Services

Approximate mileage / date

S1 Service A (Intermediate) - 70000 miles / March 2023
S2  Service B (Full) - 80000 miles / March 2024
S3  Service A (Intermediate) - 90000 miles / March 2025

S4  Service B (Full) - 100000 miles/ March 2026
S5  Service A (Intermediate) - 110000 miles / March 2027

As you all may be aware, every service comes with an renewal of a year's warranty under the Lexus Relax Warranty scheme.

I need an honest opinion as to whether the price quoted is reasonable and advisable to go ahead with this. All of your feedback and thoughts are valuable for me to make an informed decision.

Many Thanks.

Regards

5 Services works out around £415 for each service. I think the price quoted is quite high,no real discount in there. Does it include the annual MOT test fee?

The general theme with servicing is that its nothing more than an oil change, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, maybe the brake fluid if they feel like it usually every 2-3 years. A general report of a health inspection that is conducted on the MOT test anyway.

The bonus you get from servicing within a dealer network is the Lexus Relax warranty & the service book is attractive to a buyer when it comes to selling it. + the Hybrid Battery warranty. (Although to be fair they are not known to go wrong)

Spark plugs usually at 60k intervals.

Differential fluid usualy every 30-50k (but dealers are known to skimp on this).

Note dealers dont clean the hybrid fan and filter either.

Its not a bad price just not a great price try to negotiate a little.

*If your doing the mileage the 100k service should include the coolant flush for the radiatior & inverter flush,  spark plugs at a minimum.

Certain dealers will always try to sell you extras like Air con recharge & anti bacterial flush. Brake jobs, tyres, etc etc. Just be careful you dont get done over on the 'extra' work usually cheaper from a labour cost perspective from a reputable independent garage.

If your on a tight budget buy the service kit yourself from Lexuspartsdirect. Get an independent garage or DIY. & Just pop into Lexus once a year only to do a health check on the Battery & extend the High voltage hybrid Battery warranty If im not mistaken its £60.

This way you still have the 'Genuine Lexus' service invoices for the parts you purchased. Saving maybe upto £1000 over the 5 years.

The price of Lexus services can be found here: https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/servicing-mot-hybrid-health-check

The services are now simply priced as intermediate or full regardless of what work is scheduled at each service. £2,075 is therefore correct for the 5 services. A service plan doesn't reduce the overall amount but it locks in the cost at the point you buy it and so isn't subject to future inflation. You can also pay by monthly direct debit. The Relax Warranty only lasts until 100k miles however (or 10 years whichever comes first and don't forget only lasts for 10k miles or 12 months whichever comes first and is not for one year) but once 10 years or 100k miles has been reached you can then purchase the 10 Year Plus Extended Warranty which is about £500 per annum (and does last for 12 months) and can be renewed until the car is 150k miles or 15 years old whichever comes first (but must continue to be serviced by Lexus according to schedule which if you do more then 10k mile per year will be more than once a year) and this also includes the Lexus Roadside Assistance package (which is not included with Relax).

Hi All,

Hope you are doing good.

From a precautionary perspective, I have decided to go along with the Dealer servicing to keep the Lexus warranty intact. It is pricey but I guess it gives one a peace of mind that if anything was to go off, one has the Warranty to fall back on to cover the mentioned parts as per the Warranty T&Cs.

Thank you to both for sharing your invaluable advice & opinions...
