Be very careful if you are going to machine buff/polish your car. You need to make sure the pad is not too coarse and you use top quality materials. You can easily create swirl marks all over if you use cheap products & do not know what you are doing. I have seen cars looking awful after the owner has machined polished it. Get the professionals in.

the auto glym cloth is the same stuff as the hlfords cloth... would like something softer

Also as mine is metallic it really needs a T-cut but not sure how well that goes on a metallic car... the paintwork has a very high sheen and very reflective (bloomin good paint) but does have some swirling

you need to get urself some turtle wax scratch/swirl remover - i use it often as the clearcoat on the is if very soft - it works a treat but not sur how long it will take if u have to do the whole car? as even a little mark takes a bit of time.

Mine doesn't spins rounds and round - it kinda jiggles, like an orbital sander.

I've had a lot of success with colour magic, mixed with a small amout of Autoglym cutting polish. Use one bonnet soaked in the stuff to put on ans rub in - make sure the bonnet is good a wet though - so that the mix doesn't dry while your putting it on.. Leave it to dry then wipe with a clean lint-free cloth - pillow cases are pretty good. Then polish with a clean bonnet on the machine.

if anyone is interested, I am a customer at a cash-and-carry place called JTF and they are selling orbital 230V sanders for about £12 + VAT at the moment.

They also have a pretty amazing deal on a portable DVD player package at the moment. You get a portable 5" LCD screen with TV tuner, and a separate DVD player. for £250 + VAT!!! They both work on 12 or 230V and a come with a seat back carry case so you can watch it in the back seat. If anyone is interested in any of these then U2U me and I will tell you more
